The Spotlight on Saint Kate - The Arts Hotel

Creative Comfort in the Heart of Milwaukee

Modern and art-filled, Saint Kate - The Arts Hotel is a stylish boutique stay right in downtown Milwaukee’s bustling theater district. With sweeping city views, eclectic decor, and gallery spaces throughout, this hotel doubles as a cultural experience. Just steps from major performance venues and surrounded by restaurants, it’s a great base for concert-goers who want to stay close to the action without sacrificing comfort or personality.

Why Concert-goers love it

You can’t beat the location—just a 2-minute walk to the Marcus Performing Arts Center and under 10 minutes to Fiserv Forum. After the encore, it’s a quick stroll back to your room, no rideshare needed. With a 12:00pm checkout, you can sleep in after a late night, and the hotel’s vibe is artsy but calm, making it a great post-show wind-down spot. No major street noise, and the lobby lounge often features mellow live music or art installations to keep the creative energy going.

Who this Hotel is great for

- Groups of friends looking for a cool and central crash pad
- Solo travelers checking an artist off their bucket list
- Couples making a weekend out of a concert night
- Fans who want a quiet, artsy space to recharge
- Budget-conscious music lovers who still want a touch of luxury

Food and Drink Options

Saint Kate has three on-site restaurants ranging from fine-dining to casual bites, plus two bars for a pre- or post-show drink. While there’s no 24/7 room service, in-room dining is available during key evening and morning hours (7–11am and 5–10pm). Sleep in worry-free—breakfast service runs late enough for those recovering from a night of music. Plus, the hotel’s central location puts you within walking distance of dozens of eateries.

Nightlife Options

The hotel itself often hosts rotating art exhibits and live acoustic sets in its lounge, making it a mellow but creative nightlife hub. For something livelier, you’re just a short walk to Milwaukee’s best bars, lounges, and late-night spots, especially around Cathedral Square Park, only four blocks away.

What People Say

Guests consistently rave about the unique artistic vibe, the friendly staff, and the location that puts you close to everything. Travelers love the gallery-like feel and the fact that local art is showcased throughout the hotel. Many mention it’s a refreshing alternative to cookie-cutter chain hotels, especially for music and culture lovers.

Areas for Improvement

While the hotel’s artistic flair is a big draw, it might not be for everyone—if you prefer ultra-minimalist decor, the creative design may feel a little busy. Also, while there is room service, it’s not round the clock. But with Milwaukee’s food scene just outside the door, late-night bites are never far away.

The Bottom Line

Saint Kate - The Arts Hotel is a walkable, artsy retreat that brings you close to Milwaukee’s music scene while offering a stylish, restful space to unwind after the show.

We were pleased from our first approach with the valet service. Then the front desk staff was amazing, rooms fantastic and the restaurant inside the hotel has great food. Whenever I visit Milwaukee again I will definitely be staying at the Intercontinental Hotel.

Liked: Everything about this hotel is great.
Disliked: Nothing.

Very good

Liked: Nice to have live music in the bar, but it was way too loud. Acoustics are terrible. We ordered a pizza and it had burned parts on the crust, which later on made both of us get sick. We were part of a wedding party and at the party, way before it was over, servers started taking not finished drinks from tables that people left there because they were on the dance floor. That's not cool.

A great find that lives...

Liked: I had a suite, which I did not expect. In the front room there was an old-time Victrola with instructions for using it,, plus 78 rpms in the bedroom. In the bedroom there was also a little red guitar. The artwork on the walls in both rooms was unusual and good--so truly an Arts Hotel. A great bar downstairs too! And excellent service everywhere.
