The Spotlight on Sahara Inn - Los Angeles

Affordable Comfort Close to LA’s Iconic Music Venues

Modern, no-frills, and seriously well-located, Sahara Inn - Los Angeles is a smart choice for music fans who want to stay near the action without breaking the bank. Set in South Los Angeles, it's just a short drive or ride-share away from hotspots like the LA Memorial Coliseum, Microsoft Theater, and Staples Center. If you're coming in from out of town, Los Angeles International Airport is only 8.7 miles away.

This motel-style stay offers the basics done right—clean rooms, solid location, and surprisingly easy access to some of LA's most famous entertainment hubs.

Why Concert-goers love it

The Sahara Inn is just a 17-minute walk from LA Memorial Coliseum—perfect for catching a big show or festival. It's also close to the California Science Center and Natural History Museum for daytime exploring. While it doesn’t have flashy extras, guests love the quiet atmosphere after a loud night out. Plus, with check-in from 2:00 PM and check-out at 11:00 AM, there’s decent flexibility for late-night returns.

Who this Hotel is great for

  • Groups of friends looking to split a low-cost stay near the venues
  • Solo travelers chasing their dream artist
  • Couples making a weekend concert getaway
  • Fans who appreciate a low-key place to recharge after the noise
  • Budget-conscious music lovers who want to save for merch and tickets

Food and Drink Options

While the Sahara Inn doesn’t offer on-site dining, there are plenty of nearby eateries you can walk or drive to—ideal for grabbing a bite before or after a show. Local convenience stores and fast food options stay open late, and you’re not far from LA’s diverse food scene. Breakfast isn’t served at the motel, so plan to hit a nearby café if you’re sleeping in after a show.

Nightlife Options

You won’t find a hotel bar or live music on site, but the big name venues and Downtown LA nightlife are just a quick ride away. Whether you’re into clubs, chill lounges, or dive bars, you’ll have no trouble finding post-show hangouts nearby.

What People Say

Guests on Booking.com and TripAdvisor highlight the great location for event-goers, mentioning it’s “close to everything” and “perfect for USC games and concerts.” Many reviewers also mention the quiet environment and value for money as major plus points. Cleanliness and simplicity get consistent nods, especially from budget travelers.

Areas for Improvement

Don’t expect luxury—this is a basic stay with limited amenities. Some guests have noted the lack of in-room coffee makers or breakfast options, and the surrounding area can feel a bit quiet at night. But for the price and location, most say it’s a solid trade-off.

The Bottom Line

If you’re heading to LA for a concert and want a clean, quiet, and affordable place to crash nearby, Sahara Inn - Los Angeles delivers exactly what you need—no frills, no fuss, just function.

Bad

Liked: Nothing.
Disliked: Everything bad in every review is true. I personally do NOT like the smell of pine-sol and the room wreaked of it, but it was not clean. There were spots of dirt or other stuff I’m not sure of on the floor, but not clean. The bathroom was not clean. Looking at the back of the toilet there was urine, hair, and other stuff I’m not sure of. There were handprints on the shower walls. There was hair and other stuff on the floor in the bathroom. You only get 2 bath towels. No hand towels and no washcloths. When I went to use the first bath towel and I opened it there was a hair in it. I grabbed the other towel and there were stains on it or it just wasn’t clean. Looking at the sheets on the bed they seemed cleaned. The bed was very uncomfortable, it almost felt like you were sleeping on a table. You only get one pillow and it was thin. I booked a room with a king bed and a got queen bed. There was some lady almost howling like a dog each night we were there at 3:00 am and carried on for quite some time. Then you have someone else screaming at her to shut up. Each morning when we woke up to go to the bathroom there were a couple of cockroaches and they were very small. We ended up buying some cheap towels for us to use. We also bought Lysol wipes to clean the room and bathroom ourselves.

If you are an Anglo...

Liked: There was no breakfast.
Disliked: The location was in the middle of Southeast LA with crowing roosters at all hours, gunshots, difficult lift rider extraction. For an Angle I was very much out of my environment and did not feel safe at all until I was locked in my room. The room was clean. I asked that the battery in the room be changed, but it was not and beeped all night long.

Don't do it. Cheap isn't...

Liked: The was a trash bag in the trash can. Floor was clean.
Disliked: Stains on sheets. Only 2 towels for 2 people. Even asked for more. There is no towel for the floor to stand on. Wouldn't answer bookings for a refund on one day due to a medical emergency. Wouldn't accommodate a downstairs room for disabled people. Someone banging on the door in the middle of the night. Shady people hanging around.
