The hostel features wonderful exposed beams grand fireplaces and hand-carved ceilings. Safestay York Micklegate has private bedrooms and bright and airy dormitories all with personal reading lights and orthopedic mattresses. Private rooms also have air conditioning and a personal safe. Very pleasing overall. Great value...

Liked: Location excellent. Pleasant staff. Great for budget stay.
Disliked: Small bathroom to share in dormitory. Cages under bed too large.

Liked: Convenient location
Disliked: No hot water in shower or sink3rd floor on a building with very high ceilings is a very long walk up 3 flights of stairs

Really great location, nice staff...

Liked: Location was superb! At the end of the road were all the restaurants, bars and pop world! Really nice for a hostel! My first try and I was impressed!
Disliked: 3 flights of stairs to room 16 was tough. The toilet is in the 10 bed dorm but is like an aeroplane toilet.

Very good

Liked: Excellent value for money,good location for city and train station.Curtains round beds a bonus.
Disliked: No kitchen facilities,fridge or microwave.Breakfast fairly basic so poor deal for £8.
