Safestay Glasgow

My son, who is 20 years old, wanted to treat his sister to her 1st music gig - she was turning 17 on the Saturday! So we decided to book accommodation knowing they’d all be together! It states on your website that someone in the group needs to be over 18, so couldn’t understand why it was an issue for my daughter and her cousin to be allowed to stay, as my son is 20 and his girlfriend is 18? They missed over an hour of the music gig - just really ruined it for them. I booked safe stay cause I’d seen good reviews but sadly won’t use again was very upsetting for all especially me as I was 2hrs away at home and was worried enough at them going then was getting told my daughter and cousin couldn’t stay - staff were very rude!

Liked: Kids said building is lovely and clean.
Disliked: The way my teenage children were treated on arrival.

Liked: Very clean and tidy; lovely rooms and very nice breakfast. Staff very helpful and friendly.
Disliked: No bar.

When we arrived at 4pm (check in was 2pm) we were told that our room wasn't ready. On calling housekeeping, we were then told that it was ready. The receptionist, we found, was quite patronising and not very friendly. When we got to our room, we realised we had a disabled bathroom which obviously wasn't suitable for us and not what we had booked. The bathroom was just a walk in shower and didn't even have a bath. The sink and facilities were obviously lowered for a disabled person but this was inconvenient for us. The radiatior didn't work and the room was freezing when we got there. We had asked for a DVD player which turned out to be a PS2 which kept skipping. The "double room" was actually just two separate single beds joined together which we weren't happy with as this is not what we asked for. We ordered drinks to our room and on arrival, the member of staff missed a drink off our order so had to go back and correct it. Overall, we weren't impressed with our stay and definitely wouldn't stay here again. Just generally disappointed as Best Western are a well known company and I never expected this from them.

Overcharged for nothing

Liked: The location is good. Overall, it's alright for 1 night and no more.
Disliked: I paid 107£ for two nights in a mixed room of 10. That's extremely high value for what you are getting. The beds are unsecured and unstable. The whole night, i felt like one wrong move, and im down. The windows are wooden, so it's quite cold, especially at night. For the 3 days I spent in a 10 BED ROOM, there was only ONE roll of toilet paper, and it was never charged, not once anybody from the staff came into the room. The common area was small and dirty. Everything is at an additional charge, no towels, no soap, no luggage storage.

Good location with clean room...

Liked: Good location. Handy for our concert at OVO Hydro. Comfortable beds and our own bathroom. Powerful shower:). All we needed to lay our heads down for a night :)

Liked: Good central city location & great staff. Comfy and clean overall.
Disliked: Really mouldy ceiling in bathroom.

Passable

Liked: Good location with lots of food options and shops nearby. Good option for a group of people.
Disliked: We had an issue with our door not locking and we were told by one of the members of staff that he would go see if there was another room available then come back to us. After 20 minutes I went to reception and was told he had finished his shift but we had been waiting to hear back. We moved rooms and the other member of staff was very helpful

Bit down but rest assured...

Liked: It was okay but the other roomates wouldn't chat to me. The shower is good. The bed is fine but could've required two pilliws, not just one. Nicr place to walk into the city and the breakfast was very good selection. I had to fit my stuff in my locker.
Disliked: The guests taking too long in the bathroom, i couldn't have my own privacy except behind closed curtains in my bed or in the bathroom.
