My son, who is 20 years old, wanted to treat his sister to her 1st music gig - she was turning 17 on the Saturday! So we decided to book accommodation knowing they’d all be together! It states on your website that someone in the group needs to be over 18, so couldn’t understand why it was an issue for my daughter and her cousin to be allowed to stay, as my son is 20 and his girlfriend is 18? They missed over an hour of the music gig - just really ruined it for them. I booked safe stay cause I’d seen good reviews but sadly won’t use again was very upsetting for all especially me as I was 2hrs away at home and was worried enough at them going then was getting told my daughter and cousin couldn’t stay - staff were very rude!

Liked: Kids said building is lovely and clean.
Disliked: The way my teenage children were treated on arrival.

Disappointing - 2.0 out of 5

Lisa, Dunfermline, visiting O2 Academy Glasgow

When we arrived at 4pm (check in was 2pm) we were told that our room wasn't ready. On calling housekeeping, we were then told that it was ready. The receptionist, we found, was quite patronising and not very friendly. When we got to our room, we realised we had a disabled bathroom which obviously wasn't suitable for us and not what we had booked. The bathroom was just a walk in shower and didn't even have a bath. The sink and facilities were obviously lowered for a disabled person but this was inconvenient for us. The radiatior didn't work and the room was freezing when we got there. We had asked for a DVD player which turned out to be a PS2 which kept skipping. The "double room" was actually just two separate single beds joined together which we weren't happy with as this is not what we asked for. We ordered drinks to our room and on arrival, the member of staff missed a drink off our order so had to go back and correct it. Overall, we weren't impressed with our stay and definitely wouldn't stay here again. Just generally disappointed as Best Western are a well known company and I never expected this from them.

Liked: Curtains in the beds are great, and surprisingly rare in other hostels I’ve been to. Clean, fairly good central location near shops and pubs. Staff were lovely
Disliked: The kitchen is quite limited, with no fridge or cooking equipment, and if you haven’t bought breakfast it locks up mid morning so you can’t get to any utensils or do washing up

Poor

Liked: The location was good. Staff also.
Disliked: When i look at the previous comments i feel really scammed. I paid 330€ for 3 night. Sole ppl paid 35€ per night.. the room looks like a prison room with an uncomfortable bed. For the price i paid it’s totally overpriced and i am not happy with that. The carpet not inspiring confidence hygiene level in addition my mother had pimples on the ankles as if carpet fleas had stung it. Don’t get scammed with the price like me

Pleasant - 3.0 out of 5

Norman Mon, 30 June 2025

Pleasant

Liked: Practically nothing.
Disliked: My dorm room was not cleaned every day. We could see stains in the carpets not removed. In addition, there is a white left unattended on the floor that no one was attended to.The worst thing: the housekeeping didn't even bother to restock the toilet supplies. Worst of all, only when I had finished using the toilet , I found toilet roll has been run out!The breakfast of this hostel chain, again, os a joke for £8, if bought in the reception; worst still, you have to have your breakfast in a tiny room which contains a tiny table for 6 people! Very uncomfortable. Also you have to paid £3 for leaving your luggage, either before check-in or after checkout.
