Disappointing - 2.0 out of 5

Lisa, Dunfermline, visiting O2 Academy Glasgow Tue, 3 December 2013

When we arrived at 4pm (check in was 2pm) we were told that our room wasn't ready. On calling housekeeping, we were then told that it was ready. The receptionist, we found, was quite patronising and not very friendly. When we got to our room, we realised we had a disabled bathroom which obviously wasn't suitable for us and not what we had booked. The bathroom was just a walk in shower and didn't even have a bath. The sink and facilities were obviously lowered for a disabled person but this was inconvenient for us. The radiatior didn't work and the room was freezing when we got there. We had asked for a DVD player which turned out to be a PS2 which kept skipping. The "double room" was actually just two separate single beds joined together which we weren't happy with as this is not what we asked for. We ordered drinks to our room and on arrival, the member of staff missed a drink off our order so had to go back and correct it. Overall, we weren't impressed with our stay and definitely wouldn't stay here again. Just generally disappointed as Best Western are a well known company and I never expected this from them.

Nice room

Liked: The room was nice, and there's a handy sitting room next to the lobby.
Disliked: No laundry facilities, and they refused to change our money to use for the laundrette nearby.

Nice hostel, centrally located

Liked: Great room - clean, each bed had blinds to draw around bed, clean bathroom. Location is super convenient, right off Sauchiehall st and 15 min walk from Glasgow Central.

Pleasant

Liked: It was a pretty building, with friendly staff and a clean and working ensuite bathroom. Nice sized lockers and a ironing board and iron available to use. The room I stayed in was spacious, and the beds had privacy curtains and decent mattresses. Rooms accessible through key cards and easy directions.
Disliked: My bed only had a duvet, no sheets or pillows when I arrived so I had to ask for the bedding. Our room had a window we couldn’t close, and the floor didn’t look the cleanest.

Liked: The room was clean and spacious for 8 people. There were lockers and there was a bathroom in the room which was nice. Check-in was easy and the staff were all friendly.
