The Spotlight on Rutland Hall Hotel

Lakeside Relaxation Meets Concert-Ready Comfort

Modern yet classic, Rutland Hall Hotel is a charming countryside retreat perched above the stunning Rutland Water. Nestled between the historic towns of Oakham and Stamford, this hotel blends tranquil views with warm, upscale hospitality. With landscaped gardens, individually styled rooms (some with private balconies), and a heated indoor pool, it’s a welcome escape before or after a big night out.

Why Concert-goers love it

While set just outside the bustle, Rutland Hall Hotel is still within easy reach of local music venues and festivals in Oakham, Stamford, and surrounding areas. After the show, unwind in peaceful surroundings far from the noise, with 24-hour front desk service and flexible support for late arrivals. The serene vibe and lake views make it a great contrast to the high energy of a concert night.

Who this Hotel is great for

  • Groups of friends looking for a spacious, scenic base
  • Solo travelers wanting a quiet post-gig wind-down
  • Couples making a weekend getaway out of a show
  • Fans who want to sleep in and recharge with a view
  • Budget-conscious music lovers who still want comfort and charm

Food and Drink Options

The on-site Blossoms Bar and Restaurant offers a beautiful dining space with local ingredients and lake views. While there’s no 24/7 room service, the bar stays open late for drinks and light bites. Breakfast is available, ideal for those who sleep in after a late night. Plus, nearby Stamford and Oakham have a range of walkable pubs and eateries for pre- or post-concert meals.

Nightlife Options

Rutland Hall itself is more about chill than party, but that’s part of the charm. The hotel bar is a cozy spot for unwinding with a drink. For more action, short drives to Stamford or Oakham offer pubs with occasional live music and local ales.

What People Say

Guests love the tranquil setting, friendly staff, and comfortable rooms. Many mention how relaxing it is to return here after a busy day or night. The views over Rutland Water consistently get high marks, and the gardens and leisure facilities are a welcome bonus.

Areas for Improvement

Some reviewers note that the hotel is a bit off the beaten path, so you’ll likely need a car or taxi to get to and from concerts. Also, while the indoor pool is a nice perk, it requires advance booking—which can catch some guests by surprise.

The Bottom Line

For concert-goers who want peaceful vibes, comfy beds, and scenic views to come home to, Rutland Hall Hotel hits all the right notes.

Disappointing

Liked: Staff - helpful and friendlyLocation
Disliked: The basic room was not value for money - smaller than premierinn (but twice cost); noisy machine running next door in night and early in morningSunday roast - beef very tough, cold, carrot rock hardVegetarian option same as evening meal we had on Friday - staff changed itLack of eye for detail eg breakfast items not labelled for GF, no GF serials, but evening meal well labelled, only 2 accessible sockets for TV, kettle, coffee machine and fan, biscuits in room: one packet of GF first night, 2 packets not GF on second night, 1 GF 1 not third night

Disappointing - 2.0 out of 5

Not worth the money if...

Liked: Lakeside location.
Disliked: Rooms not designated ’lake view’ might as well be a travelodge. No light, not only no view, but a wall to look out onto. Bathroom way too big, bedroom too small. Building could have been configured to give all rooms a view and some daylight. Restaurant very ‘Butlins’- style and, again ignores the beautiful environment outside.

It was A LOT of...

Liked: Felt rural. Reception area was pretty. Bathroom size was good. Gym was good. Staff were friendly.
Disliked: My room was right at the back of the main hotel, very dark and not a very nice environment. Bed felt like a small double.
