The Spotlight on Rutland Hall Hotel

Lakeside Relaxation Meets Concert-Ready Comfort

Modern yet classic, Rutland Hall Hotel is a charming countryside retreat perched above the stunning Rutland Water. Nestled between the historic towns of Oakham and Stamford, this hotel blends tranquil views with warm, upscale hospitality. With landscaped gardens, individually styled rooms (some with private balconies), and a heated indoor pool, it’s a welcome escape before or after a big night out.

Why Concert-goers love it

While set just outside the bustle, Rutland Hall Hotel is still within easy reach of local music venues and festivals in Oakham, Stamford, and surrounding areas. After the show, unwind in peaceful surroundings far from the noise, with 24-hour front desk service and flexible support for late arrivals. The serene vibe and lake views make it a great contrast to the high energy of a concert night.

Who this Hotel is great for

  • Groups of friends looking for a spacious, scenic base
  • Solo travelers wanting a quiet post-gig wind-down
  • Couples making a weekend getaway out of a show
  • Fans who want to sleep in and recharge with a view
  • Budget-conscious music lovers who still want comfort and charm

Food and Drink Options

The on-site Blossoms Bar and Restaurant offers a beautiful dining space with local ingredients and lake views. While there’s no 24/7 room service, the bar stays open late for drinks and light bites. Breakfast is available, ideal for those who sleep in after a late night. Plus, nearby Stamford and Oakham have a range of walkable pubs and eateries for pre- or post-concert meals.

Nightlife Options

Rutland Hall itself is more about chill than party, but that’s part of the charm. The hotel bar is a cozy spot for unwinding with a drink. For more action, short drives to Stamford or Oakham offer pubs with occasional live music and local ales.

What People Say

Guests love the tranquil setting, friendly staff, and comfortable rooms. Many mention how relaxing it is to return here after a busy day or night. The views over Rutland Water consistently get high marks, and the gardens and leisure facilities are a welcome bonus.

Areas for Improvement

Some reviewers note that the hotel is a bit off the beaten path, so you’ll likely need a car or taxi to get to and from concerts. Also, while the indoor pool is a nice perk, it requires advance booking—which can catch some guests by surprise.

The Bottom Line

For concert-goers who want peaceful vibes, comfy beds, and scenic views to come home to, Rutland Hall Hotel hits all the right notes.

It was nice

Liked: Nice room , lovely restaurant and beautiful setting
Disliked: Very disappointed with what was ment to be a lake view room which I paid a considerable amount more for ! It looked onto a carpark and if you squinted and looked through the branches of the trees you could just about see some of the lake .. not lake view at all !!

We had some issues, but...

Liked: Location, food, and staff were all good.
Disliked: The rooms are in buildings around the site. It was tricky to get parking close to our room.A wall-mounted bedside light in our room was literally hanging off the wall, with wires and connectors exposed. The sink and bath drained very slowly.

Disappointing

Liked: The location and grounds.
Disliked: The property is very dated and not good value for money. Our room smelt as if they were trying to cover up damp or smoke- an employee came round and confirmed there was a musty smell but could not offer another room. It was v noisy so we’re awoken by other guests and the bins being taken out. Pool was good but changing rooms tired again. Staff were friendly and helpful but ultimately could not make up for the standard of hotel/rooms. We mentioned this on check out and they mentioned the manager would call- it’s now 2 weeks since the wedding and no call. The couple in front of us checking out were also complaining.
