Disliked: Lots of steps up to the room - which was on the notes before booking

Lovely old building

Liked: The location was great, we were provided with very detailed instructions and the place was easy to find and close to everything we wanted to visit. By far the best part about the property is its history - I enjoyed reading about the building on a notice that was left on the door, and we felt like we were staying in a castle. Despite the old building, the bathroom was very modern, clean and easy to use. The view outside the window was nice too - it is Edinburgh after all.
Disliked: Because it is an old building there are no elevators. I had requested a room on one of the lower floors as I was traveling with two heavy suitcases but unfortunately I had to carry them up to the fourth floor. This cannot be helped so I don't blame anyone, getting to stay in a building like this was lovely but if you aren't physically fit or have heavy luggage do be aware.

Once settled minus the stairs...

Liked: It was right in center of town so it was perfect!!
Disliked: When booking never got confirmation or information from host. When called host they made it very difficult. FINALLY after waiting TWO HOURS they had the maid come and help us. It was EXTERMEMLY difficult to find. Was not informed upon booking stairs of several flights.

Liked: It was right in the heart of Edinburgh. Great location. Great having a kitchenette to use. Room as as big as I hoped. I would also like to thank the house maid that helped us with the lock box to get the key out as I was having difficulty
Disliked: I liked everything. I would recommend though that people to be aware of the amount of stairs. We had back packs and fairly fit so we were fine. But if you had a suitcase it could be quite hard to go to the 4th floor dragging it

Magic

Liked: Superb location, nice decor, quirky entrance and room. Loved our 'secret' door leading up the spiral staircase to our room, and equally leaving the room and emerging into bustling Edinburgh. The Jolly Judge pub below was great for a last drink of the evening, but as outside customers aren't allowed after 10pm, it didn't disturb us at night! So close to the castle, Grassmarket, The Royal Mile etc. Fab.
Disliked: Nothing

Good

Liked: Gorgeous little pad!
Disliked: Road works outside window from 7am - but I guess that was why the price was affordable and happily I had to be up by 7 anyway.
