Noisy hot hell pad .

Disliked: Unfortunately we will be forced to leave a very negative review so that no one has to endure the sheer torture we went through . ‘Who needs the Edinburgh Dungeons?’ may be my opening line .Key points :-•Whatever loud and horrible news you wouldn't wish to hear in the early hours of a morning that you could imagine- we heard it . Screaming , loud conversations, beer barrels , animals fighting , deliveries , waste removal , loud bangs of an unknown source to name but a few . It got to the point that no noise was a rarity so we lay wide awake waiting for the next bang / clatter / scream or cacophony .• unbearable heat from a towel rail that was on full blast for the duration of our stay so each time the loo door opened the room was blasted with hairdryer heat. Opening the windows to counter this only amplified the above mentioned noises so it became a catch 22 situation.•lack of response from our initial message to you; despite our reaching out to you on first arrival we got 2 generic welcome responses so clearly no one was actually reading them . Clearly a bot at play• TV had zero signal so attempts to drown out the noises failed in parallel to the TV signal .•On vacating the room we realised we'd left some fizz and a soft drink in the fridge . The cleaner was in situ when we arrived back . We checked our bin bag which was outside the room . No drinks there . He took me back to the apartment so I could check the fridge - empty . Only he had obviously been in the apartment. He then led me to a very full and dirty over flowing outside bin . This was pointless as our bin bag was still outside our room door . I told him I was going to complain. At this point he went into a different side door and minutes later appeared with said bottle of fizz and soft drink. So the excursion to the dirty bin outside was in vain as he knew. Taking part in such a charade was insulting.

My stay at this accommodation...

Liked: The location was the only positive thing about this acccomodation
Disliked: One towel and one hand towel for 5 days, refrigerator did not work, 3 floors of spiral staircases with no handrails,no coffee pot, bed was old and creaked when you moved, no trash removal, very complicated check in process. Did not get an email explaining the property in full until after the cancellation period. When I had four days prior to arriving, I sent emails begging for either another accommodation or a refund. The manager replied and acted like they were going to help me but never heard from them again I explained I was 75 and this was not appropriate for me. They did not care it was very overpriced for what you received. Also, I would never use booking.com for an overseas stay again.

Excellent property, perfect Location for...

Liked: For a long reekend stay the property is excellent, the location could not be any better for the Castle, or for us the Edinburgh Tattoo and the Fringe festival, but it is also perfect for a stay anytime, as you walk out of the door and straight onto the Royal mile. The location for us was perfect for travelling on the train, and was a 10 to 15 minute walk to the location. Everything was as described and it makes you fully aware of the steps to the room as well. Plenty of gret places to eat, all extremely close.
Disliked: There was nothing not to like, a snug cosy room in a perfect location. The only addition we think would be useful for longer stays would maybe be a microwave? but we were extremely happy with everything.

Perfect location, reasonably comfortable facilities

Liked: Stayed in room number 2 Panmure and IT WAS GREAT! I was scared to death before arrival because of those horrible reviews, but honestly the room is big enough, clean enough and self check-in easy pretty easy! I don’t like properties without reception myself so I wouldn’t have done so if I realized this while booking, but I’m glad I did. I’m a 35+ with a regular fit and I managed to carry my mid-size 18+ kg luggage upstairs pretty easy. The location is perfect and very safe for the solo travelling ladies. Don’t be fooled by the dark narrow passage, because that’s how passages are in Edinburgh!
Disliked: There is nothing I did not like. Yes the carpet is old, furniture is old, but not like creepy old- stylish old.The windows are old - I’m sure winter bookings are having a difficult time, but it was perfectly fine in mid-August.

Liked: I decided to extend an extra two days of Fringe and I wished I’d stayed at the Royal Mile my whole stay. Clean, comfortable and great location
Disliked: The Wifi was weak and had a tendency to drop out. The stairs are steep but worth it
