Fabulous Balcony Room -
Liked: Arrived early but was checked in super fast by super friendly staff. Room was lovely and had everything we needed. Even better we could have had breakfast served on the balcony at no extra cost in this room. Great that the patio area below our room attached to the bar below was no smoking so that did not cause us any problems when we sat outside. Breakfast was good and we had 2 decent meals during our stay one in the restaurant and one in the bar. Food and drin good value
Disliked: Evening meal menu a bit limited and I would have expected a different menu in the restaurant to the bar. Why not do specials of the day as well - it would make this a much better place to eat especially as the restaurants near the hotel weren't very special or different. Parking a bit tricky - couldn't get a space on Saturday and had to park a long way from the hotel.

Pretty, spacious hotel room overlooking...
Liked: The size of the room was wonderful. We had a nice view of the sea, if a little blocked by part of the hotel building and the car park. The bathroom was clean. The bed was large and comfortable. The sitting area was very sweet.
Disliked: The hotel could invest in sound-proof walls and floors - we could hear everything in the rooms above and below and in the hallway. The door in the hallway to the stairs could be changed to one that doesn?t slam every time someone walks through it - our bed was right next to this wall. The windows could be double glazed. They could provide dressing gowns, there were none. There was also no fridge. The hairdryer could be updated to a newer version - the one in our room was extremely old and a former wall hairdryer acting as a loose hand-held hairdryer and still had the wall mount attached to it making drying your hair difficult as the mount was heavy and would swing around. The bathroom door was dirty and had numerous layers of dirt and hand marks under the door knob.

Great location but very tired.
Liked: The location is fantastic
Disliked: We had a room on the top floor and there?s no lift access. On the top floor it looked like a building site and the ceiling paint in the Corridor was coming off due to humidity. The bathroom was the worst with the bathtub showing rusty scratches and the sink plug hole was rusty too. The wooden bath paneling was coming off and one of the chairs in our room was torn and the fabric peeling off. All the windows were jammed and could not be opened.

The staff at the Royal...
Liked: The staff were very attentive & friendly. The hotel catered for a birthday celebration for 20 guests & some of stayed at the hotel too. I was very pleased with the food, service & attention to detail.
Disliked: Shower over the bath.

Liked: We have stayed here on a few occasions for an overnight break. The hotel is clean, comfy with friendly staff and good food. While rather pricey, they occasionally have good offers. Excellent breakfast. Lovely to be on the seafront. However, if you have a bad back the beds are pot luck - some mattresses are firm and others are soggy, but if you ask in advance they try to accommodate. Parking by the hotel is council run and so have some change ready to pay for it (£1.10/hr or about £5-6 for the day).

Fine and suited our purpose
Liked: Locatin perfect for our purposes which were to play golf at Royal Cinque Ports Golf Club
Disliked: The menu and wine list were below standard. Not enough fresh fish particularly as the hotel is located a few yards from he sea.
