Hotel Description
Standing high above the Wye River the Royal Hotel has fine river and countryside views. It offers traditional cuisine free on-site parking and bedrooms with free Wi-Fi. The Royal Hotel is next to historic St Mary's Church and a 5-minute walk from Ross on Wye's stores. The M50 highway is a 5 minute drive away and The Forest of Dean is 20 minutes by car. Each bedroom has a small sitting area satellite TV and tea and coffee facilities. Some rooms have scenic views and some are located in the stable block. The historic hotel is built on the foundations of a 13th-century Bishop's Palace. It has been visited by Queen Victoria and famous author Charles Dickens. Full English breakfasts are available and classic meals are served until 10 pm. In summer you can dine on the terrace with its excellent views of the Wye Valley.

A pleasant stay, great location,...

Liked: Staff lovely. Very good breakfast. Great location. Large, pleasant room.
Disliked: Bathroom needs redecorating/re-tiling. Bed was smaller than expected - should be a super king at least, for the size of room and for guest comfort. This is nitpicking tho', we enjoyed our stay.

Very contented

Liked: food and accommodation were excellent.
Disliked: Slight gripe on the size of the bed which I believe was a normal sized bed. Considering the size of the bedroom a larger bed, i.e. king size would have been more agreeable.
