Full of character the Royal Berkshire was originally built in 1705 for the Churchill family. The Royal Berkshire features 66 bedrooms and a beautiful mix of traditional and contemporary styles. Staff and service were excellent....

Liked: Everything is very satisfactory. Food in the restaurant was excellent and service was very good
Disliked: More attention on arrival. I.e. someone to take my bags up to the room explain how the television et cetera worked. I am assuming this is because of the lockdown that this service is not totally up to scratch. However everyone was helpful and courteous.Staff and service were excellent. The room was lovely with a great view. The pillows were very hard and uncomfortable!

Wouldn?t go back.

Disliked: No air con in the room, unbareable heat and was told we could have more fans? Fans were noisy and just circulated the hot air. I can?t see anyone accepting that heat let alone a family of 4 of us. Then downgraded to a room, poor meal, just generally poor customer service, almost made to feel guilty for complaining. What happened to the hote industry?

Amazing!

Liked: We felt very welcome the moment we stepped into reception. The staff were all very welcoming, friendly and helpful. Also 2 days before our stay Lily called and said they had put us in the modern family room as the classic one was out of use and she also included breakfast for all 3 days which was a nice and pleasant surprise.The breakfast was very good especially the ala carte menu - the mushrooms and sourdough toast was delicious! The staff at breakfast were outstanding - Nicky, Julie and a new Filipino member of staff, infact everyone was so nice. There was a staff at the bar - my son had asked if there was cakes, he said unfortunately not but then he brought some jam sandwich biscuits with our hot drinks which was so nice of him.The receptionist Andrea always a smile on her face and my son got on well with her and Nicky at breakfast she looked after him so well.The housekeeping staff were also very helpful.You have a brilliant team - manager! Well done! We will not hesitate to stay at Royal Berkshire again.Thank you again,Metin, Aydin and Rohana

Beautiful setting and charming hotel

Liked: The grounds were beautiful and the hotel had an older charm about it. The bedroom was comfortable and there was free WiFi. Breakfast was a treat and offered most things you could want. We had afternoon tea which was very nice.
Disliked: The afternoon tea was very expensive even though it was nice. Almost stopped us buying it but decided to treat ourselves.
