The Spotlight on Roman Camp Country House Hotel

Historic Hideaway Just Outside the City Buzz

Modern hotels have their charm, but if you're looking for a truly unique stay near Stirling, the Roman Camp Country House Hotel delivers timeless elegance. Tucked away in a peaceful 20-acre estate along the River Teith in scenic Callander Village, this former 17th-century hunting lodge offers a luxurious, countryside escape just 15 miles from Stirling’s top music venues.
With individually designed rooms, period features, and a 3 AA Rosette-awarded restaurant, it’s a soulful, serene base for concert-goers who want their getaway to be more than just a place to crash.

Why Concert-goers love it

After the encore, it’s all about winding down—and this is where Roman Camp excels. Concert-goers appreciate the tranquil setting, ideal for recovering after a high-energy night. Though it’s set in the countryside, it’s still just a short drive to Stirling’s venues, making it a favorite for those who want to balance music with a little R&R. Flexible check-in from 15:00 and a relaxing 11:00 check-out mean no stress if your gig runs late.

Who this Hotel is great for

  • Groups of friends looking for a stylish and spacious countryside retreat
  • Solo travelers wanting to pair a concert with a peaceful escape
  • Couples making a romantic weekend out of a music event
  • Fans needing a quieter post-concert recovery spot
  • Budget-conscious guests who prioritize value and charm over city-center convenience

Food and Drink Options

Food is a highlight here. Guests rave about the award-winning restaurant serving up locally sourced Scottish fare, including fresh shellfish and meats. There's also a daily full cooked breakfast—perfect after a late night out. While there’s no 24/7 room service or on-site bar open into the small hours, the hotel offers afternoon tea in the oak-paneled library and cozy spaces for relaxed evening dining.

Nightlife Options

This isn’t the place for clubbing, but that’s kind of the point. After your concert, you can unwind by the fire or in the drawing room with a drink in hand. For those who want more action, Stirling’s pubs and bars are a short drive away if you’re up for extending the night.

What People Say

Reviews highlight the hotel’s historic charm, peaceful surroundings, and exceptional service. Guests love the individually styled rooms, the gourmet food, and the overall sense of stepping back in time. Many note how great it felt to retreat here after a busy day or night out.

Areas for Improvement

Because of its rural location, it’s best if you have a car—public transport options are limited late at night. Also, some rooms may feel a bit more traditional than modern travelers are used to, but that’s part of the charm.

The Bottom Line

If you're heading to a concert in Stirling and want a peaceful, luxurious base with serious character, Roman Camp Country House Hotel hits all the right notes.

A magical place

Liked: The Roman Camp Country House is much more than a hotel. The feeling is that of staying in a beautiful English house of the 1800s, in the greenery, next to the river. There is a incredible park, the country house has many lounges, one more delightful than the other. The breakfast served at the table is very good and abundant. It is possible to have dinner at the restaurant or at the bistro, very nice. The location is exceptional, it seems to arrive in the land of fairy tales. Half an hour away there are castles, the highlands ... it is a magical place.
Disliked: Everything was more than perfect

Liked: From the moment we arrived at the ancient arch and entered the driveway, we knew we had arrived at somewhere very beautiful. Our welcome was warm and showed us to our room which was upgraded for us.It was spacious and very comfortable.Great bed and spotless throughout.Having a nightcap in the gorgeous drawing room was so relaxing.Unspoilt antique decor and seating. Sumptuous elegance!Breakfast was served in the dining room which was excellent. Great choice and well cooked and presented.A shout out to all the staff who were so polite and pleasant to engage with.A walk through the walled gardens and along the river is a real pleasure.A real gem set in beautiful countryside and well worth the drive to seek it out if visiting The Trossachs and Loch Lomand.
