This stay was a nightmare.
Liked: nothing
Disliked: The hotel was old and rundown. I had previously stayed at a Rodeway Inn in Ventura that was south of the 101 and fairly modern, with well-trained staff. "Neil" at the front desk was unprofessional and not interested in the needs of me, the guest. I am disabled, and it said so on the reservation. When I checked in, he said that he was putting me in an accessible room, but that the only handicapped space was being taken by the previous night's guest, whose vehicle had broken down and couldn't be moved. He walked me to the back, where my room was. Indeed, the only handicapped space was taken up by an old van, which was obviously being lived in by a scruffy-looking woman. There was an extension cord dangling from the room just above (the handicapped space was in a carport with another space, designated for a special type of guest). She and a scruffy looking man were hanging around the vehicle, and some luggage was in front of her car on the floor of the carport. There was no handicapped placard or license plate, and I mentioned this to the man. I called the front desk and began to describe the situation, and Neal indicated his complete awareness, asking me why it bothered me. He said that the second story room was occupied by a worker that was renovating the rooms on the property, and that lodging was part of the payment. (One of the two staircases was blocked with yellow emergency tape.) I went out to dinner, and when I returned, the vehicle had been moved to the space next to my car. I called the front desk to report this, and again Neal questioned me about my concern. Very late that night, the vehicle was moved. My objection was paying $100 a night for a seedy motel with a homeless person encamped on my doorstep. I was afraid for my safety and that of my vehicle, because I am certain that Neal told them that I had complained.

Okay, but beware.
Liked: Friendly staff. Close to fairgrounds. Plenty of parking. Fridge and microwave worked. Nobody messed with our car or room.
Disliked: Facility and Room lacked attention. Rooms are OLD. Chipped paint, old scuffs on walls, screws sticking out of walls where equipment one was. Plugged sink, due to hair on strainer. Dust bunnies under chairs. Missing wall trim. Slight musty scent around bathroom sink. Suspect activities going on during night (woman running from a room out to cars and back, wearing different outfits each time, multiple cars pulling up to different rooms for short periods of time). We were told to NOT park on the street. Multiple people roaming and staying at the facility that appeared to be homeless and/or otherwise disheveled. Would have went to another motel if we could have canceled the reservation.

The worst experience in my...
Liked: Absolutely nothing. This was is horrible and incredible unsafe and the photos prove it. We had to sleep in towels and our clothes cause how dirty this establishment is.
Disliked: The fact we had to sleep with a knife and pepper spray since our door wouldn't lock properly and their was drug addicts, homeless and prostitutes.
