Too many things that weren’t...

Liked: Very large rooms with good quality toiletries and coffee. Staff all very friendly and welcoming. Good smoothies in the juice bar. Spa is good with plenty of loungers and seats with a large pool. Lovely grounds and spotlessly clean.
Disliked: For over £400 a night you expect near perfection but there were too many things that just missed the mark. We had to chase for our luggage to be brought to the room. The coffee machine flex was too short to plug it in next to the cups etc and so had to be moved across the room. The lights constantly flickered on and off in our room. The room was boiling hot but if we put the aircon on it blasted cold air down on us as the vents were directly above the bed head. The bar is extremely expensive -£9 a pint and £17 for a pot of tea and a cup of coffee. It’s pretty soulless and lacks atmosphere. I was given an enormous pot of tea -it would have served 4 but only had one tea bag so it was very weak. Breakfast was nice but again lacked something. There was limited choices of bread, only one type of cheese and a tiny bowl of berries. No alternative milks and only a choice of marmalade or strawberry jam. For £35 per person you expect an extensive selection of high quality items. The staff were great but overly formal-which makes it difficult to relax when everyone is standing on ceremony. Finally when we left there was over £50 of food that had been charged to our room that we didn’t have. We enjoyed our break but expected more for the money.

Liked: Property was beautiful.. so nicely presented modern but with an oldy worldy feel.. loved how you feel about million miles from everything. The grounds of the spa are just amazing..
