Great location but hotel under refurbishment/construction and losing it's charm

Disliked: What I booked on booking.com was not what was provided upon check-in. When I made a complaint, they showed me another room to move to and I agreed immediately and then two minutes later they told me I couldn't move to that room because it would be closed for refurbishment immediately. I ended up on a 5th floor room that looks nothing like what I had wanted and what I paid for on booking.com (I know what their rooms are like as I previously stayed here last summer and gave an excellent review). It's quite disappointing with all the construction going on. They should update booking.com with the room photos and rooms that are actually available right now. Unfortunately, I won't be staying again.

Liked: This was our fourth visit to The Rochester. We've learned the area and it's convenient to the St. James Park Station.

Liked: Big thanks to the reception team who was able to make ad-hoc arrangement to ensure my stay was as expected and pleasant thru out.
Disliked: Looks like the hotel's currently under some renovation on several floors with lighting removed and drilling occasionally carried out, but not too bad after all.

It was fine for my last night in London, before leaving for Heathrow in the morning.

Liked: Location was okay as I was only staying for one night. The room was comfortable and very quiet. There was a great selection and variety of food for Breakfast. The staff were very helpful.
Disliked: The bathroom was quite small but adequate. I find getting in and out of a bath difficult when all I need is a shower, but the shower in my room was easy to operate.
