Cozy, generous, and well-appointed. Highly...
Liked: We had a lovely 4 night stay in the Hemingway room at the Robert Porter House. It is a charming attic space with a comfy king sized bed, generous sink/tub/shower area, lovely sitting area, and a small eating area that was well-equipped with breakfast items (bread, buns, cereals, boiled eggs, yogurt, coffee, tea ...) and small appliances. Because of COVID there was no 'general' breakfast in the main part of the house, but we were well stocked with breakfast items; we could probably have lasted a month! The location is exceptional - Beacon Hill park, Fisherman's wharf, Legislature Building, Empress Hotel, downtown, and Cook Street village are all within a short walking distance. Cindy communicated with us promptly and clearly and we bumped into her husband on the way out one day and he was very engaging and helpful. Highly recommended.

Liked: Within walking distance to down town! Very private! Complimentary breakfast had more than enough options. The staff were all very helpful and accommodating. And the jacuzzi tub was an added bonus!
Disliked: My only complaint would be that we were staying in the suite on the top floor, and it was pretty chilly in the evening up there.

Liked: Beautiful historic property
Disliked: Would like to suggest warmer bedding as all 4 of us felt cold overnight

Great location, safe and secure...
Liked: Location was excellent and easy walking distance to all the downtown attractions and restaurants. Very safe area and parking garage was secure .
Disliked: Unfortunately the bed was not very comfortable, and lack of bathroom amenities was disappointing. BUT the big one was we did not like receiving conflicting messages regarding breakfast. Rec?d Tuesday Sept.29 2:52pm "Your HOT COMPLEMENTARY BREAKFAST is Self Serve & is behind your interior door from 7 AM - 10:30 AM & we serve hot eggs, hash brown potatoes, sausages croissants, toast, an assortment of cereals plus oatmeal & fruit, an assortment of cheeses, yogurt, juices, etc., milk, almond milk, cream & tea, coffee, sugar, etc. There's a large FRIDGE in the FOYER area (behind your interior door) & it is SELF SERVE. ICE in FREEZER compartment. Help yourself!" Rec?d prior to our arrival on Sept. 30th "Good day John, Due to Covid, we will be providing a cold breakfast behind the interior door. We have had to make some changes with Covid unfortunately and are not able to serve such items, at this time. Thanks for your understanding! See you soon!" So, what is the above sentence saying? It is contradictory and we should have been notified much earlier about there being no breakfast included. The fridge had not been on for some time so serving breakfast was not even in the cards - cold or hot! I know restaurants are serving breakfast for we had to go out and get breakfast. One of the main reasons we like to stay in a B&B is we like the personal touch of the host or hostess. In this case there was none. The pandemic has been with us for a while now and I suggest that the booking site should state that a breakfast would not be served.
