Riviera South Beach Hotel

Liked: Great hotel; great price for the area. Great suites! The four of us were very comfortable in the two room suite. Walking distance to everything.
Disliked: Nothing negative to say, really.

Disliked: Felt we were overcharged at the outside bar on Friday evening. Two mixed drinks and one beer was over $60. The night time front desk staff was not as friendly or helpful as the daytime staff. Wonderful young lady at the front desk during the day when we checked in and again when we checked out. Unfortunately we did not get her name... long, dark hair, she was wonderful and very accommodating.

Bugs everywhere and probably wouldn’t...

Liked: Can walk to the beach, offers free beach towels. CVS nearby.
Disliked: We woke up to our room being filled with bugs (all over the floor and bed) so we had to request a new room the next morning which took hours and we were left sat in reception with little communication, kept being told 20 minutes and this wasted our first full day as we couldn’t check in until mid afternoon and then needed to unpack and shower again etc. The hotel refused us a partial refund or compensation. The decor is also very dark and dated, it’s not very clean and it really needs a good refurb. Three separate buildings so didn’t use all the facilities as you have to go to different buildings for them. The rooftop pool is small and has only 4 loungers next to the pool (there are other beds but not on the pool side). Also need more umbrellas as there was only one. Didn’t use the breakfast vouchers because the restaurant is not on site and a good walk away so wasn’t worth it for us as we had kitchen facilities so just made our own.

Liked: The location was great! Less than a 10 minute walk to the beach, coffee shops park and a beautiful botanical garden. The room was very spacious and comfortable. I stayed in the pent house suite so I had a terrace that was nice to hang out at in the evening. The room came with a coffee maker mini fridge ana a stove. The staff was friendly and the check in process was quick and easy my flight arrived very early and was able to hang out in their patio and they text me once my room was ready. They have lots of lounge areas and two beautiful pool areas one roof top and the other in a garden setting. They provide iced water in their lobby’s and garden pool area.
Disliked: They advertise their “free happy hour” from 5-6 but failTo mention it’s actually just one drink for free within that hour. Which would be fine if they say that, I didn’t know untill I asked for the bill and had to pay for the second drink which honestly 20 dollars foe each I would of ordered a different drink because they only have 2 to choose from and they are very water down. That seemed very calculated and misleading to say the least. The hotel has 2 beautiful pool areas one roof top and one garden setting type of pool but they were both pools very cloudy, just didn’t look right so I didn’t go in which is bummer because I was really looking forward to spending time in the pools. They also advertise free coffee from 8am to 12 I went downstairs on my last day and they said if the coffee was no longer out that means they ran out for the day it was 8:30 am and I never saw any in the lobby so that was a bit odd.
