Passable
Liked: Beautiful peaceful surroundings
Disliked: Be aware of the hidden costs .Choosing Riverbend Suite Rooms we were looking forward to the breakfast each morning which was included in the price. We stayed there for 9 nights so this option was very convenient. How disappointed we were to find out breakfast each morning was just very poor quality, cereal with some fruit. We were offered choice of tea and coffee each morning. How surprised we were to find out we were charged for the morning teas 89.10 AD.(4.95 AD per person)We should have been prepared for that after ordering one morning toast and honey and getting just one toast each with the sliver of butter and thimble of honey which cost us 10 AD. The property overall needs some renovation. Sun beds at the pool were broken and swimming pool needs a good clean to. Chairs all around the property were so dirty you couldn’t seat on them, which was pity as the location was beautiful.

Somewhat disappointing and overpriced
Liked: Lovely views and good walking trails. Friendly staff.
Disliked: No staff on site for first day. Pool filthy. Outside showers and toilets not private others can see you through the gaps. Breakfast supplied very poor quality cereals. High cost of any extras. Very expensive for what it was and no privacy

Nice host, nice food, but...
Liked: The hots was very friendly and the food was good.
Disliked: The advertisement was misleading. I paid almost $400 for a room, this room has no bathroom and no shower. If this was clearly advertised, that fact there was no bathroom or shower in the room, and the room was part of somebody’s house. There’s no way I would’ve paid that much money to go there. I had to use an outdoor bathroom and shower that had bamboo sticks for walls in which I could easily see through and others could see me. There was no privacy whatsoever. I was not even able to go to the toilet in the morning, because all the toilets were full. I didn’t realise the room was going to be part of somebody’s house. The privacy issue was really bad for the amount of money charged and the property, although pleasant was not very impressive. I also almost stepped on a brown snake Going to the bathroom at night. Which was just not pleasant. I have stayed at many properties around the Byron region and this is nowhere near the value of what it should be for the price paid. I felt very disappointed and disheartened, and even contemplated leaving as soon as I got there. Booking.com needs to clearly advertise that this property has shared bathroom facilities. And the photos on the web should also include the view from the room which is a little construction site. Not nice. I will be following up with booking.com for a partial or complete refund for property as the advertising for it was incredibly misleading. I have genius level at booking.com have booked thousands of dollars worth of accommodation through them. This is the first time I’ve ever had any issues

A casual laid back experience...
Liked: Friendly staff. Exceptional location. 40 minutes back to the coast. 5 minutes from minion Falls. 15 minutes from wihan wihan and the dam. Great views surrounding the property. Friendly doggos. Wildlife is pretty active. Nice river with platypus active at time of our stay. Tiffany and Justin both have local knowledge of the surrounding area and although they are very busy, they still make time to talk to the guests. Best thing is there was none of this 'minimum night stay' requirements, especially helpful for public holidays when other hotels and stays make it ALOT harder to get accommodation.
Disliked: The price for any of the additional activities was not made available to me when pre booking activities. This left a nasty suprise of a bill at the end of the stay. If you want to do these, definitely ask for a price as the 2 we did were quite expensive. We were also not given a room key. This was strange. When we asked about it, the response was very causal, and we never got one. This meant having to leave the room unlocked. Truth is, it didn't bother us to much as we weren't really forced to believe other guests were there to steal stuff and it's an isolated area, still, it seemed extremely weird that as a hotel owner manager the response to something that presents guests security to become compromised is kind of just brushed aside.
