River View Garden Resort

Beautiful gardens, it's all in...

Liked: The grounds were stunning, right on the river, with beautiful fruit trees and flowers and hummingbirds and butterflies. Wish we had taken a full day to chill on the property rather than with the masses at Johnson Beach. Very chill vibes, very "of the river" culture, and was definitely a welcome escape from the grind in the city.
Disliked: We were fine with the self-service arrival and departure given that it was a busy holiday weekend, and we mostly expected a more "rustic" experience. That said, the room could have been cleaner with more up-to-date amenities for the price. With zero staff in sight or on site for two full days, more and fresher towels would have been nice, more coffee supplies would have helped, and boy does that room need a new TV and perhaps a power strip or two. That wall-to-wall carpet (why?), the dingy curtains, the mediocre mattress and bedding, and the lack of a shower liner, were all disappointing for over $200/night.

Liked: Easy access to the river for swimming. Has nice but untended garden. Was quiet after 8pm. Beds had clean sheets.
Disliked: Management was non-existent. One of the hotel guests had two large dogs off leash the whole time. It was offputting when the dogs rushed our car in the evening and their owners were not around.

The room was fine for...

Liked: I enjoyed the gardens. The room had a nice patio facing the river.
Disliked: No breakfast. Coffee pot is room but no cups. No table or lamp next to bed.

Needs renovation

Disliked: Not good value for price. Very dated; many spiders roaming around room, no cups for in-room coffee maker, did not have clean towels when stayed two nights. Have to enter through the back of property which door locks need fixing. Have to struggle to open front door. Bathroom small and curtains do not provide privacy in bathroom. No hair dryer. Needs renovations desperately!
