Liked: The hotel was in a great spot and I enjoyed sitting on our balcony in the evening.
Disliked: Breakfast was just grab and go. Our room had an old musty smell. The extra set of towels under the sink had hair and wood shaving on them. But I just got new ones at front desk.

Disliked: No Hairdryer and TV service was not good when traveling with children who wanted to chill a little before bedtime

Great location for a comfortable...

Liked: The room was spacious and clean. The beds were comfortable and no issue with noise between rooms or floors. The a/c worked very well in our room -- which is always a plus when visiting Gatlinburg in late June. The outdoor pool was fun for my kids and there is plenty of space to relax near the pool. The staff is also friendly, helpful and want their guests to have a great time in Gatlinburg. (They provide tips and safety info regarding potential bear encounters on the property -- but we didn't come across any during our stay.) The **location is great** for guests who want to be near or in the middle of the downtown Gatlinburg action and who don't want to be overwhelmed by the large crowds of people also enjoying the downtown at the same time. River Terrace is just behind the main strip of downtown Gatlinburg along the Little Pigeon River and it's much quieter than the strip. It has a convenient sidewalk to access the Ripley's Aquarium -- a wonderful attraction to visit if you haven't already. The main hub for the free Gatlinburg shuttle is also nearby (at Ripley's Aquarium). These (a/c cooled) shuttles are very helpful at getting guests, visitors and tourists to the various adventures, activities and attractions that line Gatlinburg's streets as well as other places a little further outside of town; and River Terrace is only a short walk to this main hub of free, a/c cooled shuttles. Lastly, the ambience of the river running along side the property is a nice treat for the stay. The sounds of the cool water rushing by adds a sweet, natural touch to the stay that's located in a busy and bustling downtown.
Disliked: Better control of hotel personnel coming and going in the buildings. On the morning of our checkout, room service started entering our room a couple hours before the hotel's official checkout time. The staff had their clean towels & linens ready to go outside our room door early in the morning, so perhaps that's what encouraged the premature visit by the staff. Also, adding room-key security access to hotel room floors in the buildings would also be an improvement for guest safety.

Liked: The staff was Top Notch and made sure we had everything needed. Always was prompt when we ask for anything at all. Friendly also! Always love staying Here.
