The hotel was nice but...
Liked: Room was nice with very comfortable bed
Disliked: We arrived late morning and were advised the rooms would be ready at 3pm - which is what the hotel gave as check-in time. We returned at 3.15 pm to be told the rooms were still not ready and would be another 10 minutes. Gave them 25 minutes and still waited a further 10 minutes to get our key cards. Soap / shampoo container in the shower had not been filled

Hectic but enjoyable
Liked: Rooms more spacious than I expected, big fluffy bath towels, comprehensive breakfast though restaurant was very busy. Good location.
Disliked: Final price including all taxes

Over all I would recommend...
Liked: The staff in the small breakfast room were so accommodating. Breakfast, great variety, to please all
Disliked: Reception staff could smile more! I?m sure their jobs can be difficult but there are worse jobs. I would promote The staff in the breakfast room and do a swap!!

Liked: Hotel was clean, all staff were very polite, rooms cleaned to a good standard. Personal preference was the fashion bar for breakfast, felt a little more nicer.
Disliked: Times square just a tad loud and bright for me but loved hells kitchen

Liked: It?s big, new, and CLEAN! A bonus for Manhattan. Very European in style. Pretty great (massive) breakfast buffet. They even managed to move the line along at a brisk pace at peak times. Impressive! Very well organized. Great location for tourists. A little too busy for business travel but overall a nice new choice.
Disliked: Prices jacked WAY up on a busy week in NYC. Way higher than the functional rooms warrant.

Great location on a much...
Liked: Shower was spectacular!
Christian (concierge) helped me obtain some older towels to clean up spilled coffee. (His colleague was trying to send someone to the room but I wanted to do it myself.)
Disliked: Language challenges in communicating with staff about how to set the room temperature.

A wonderful experience
Liked: The hotel is located 1 block (2min walk) from Times Square in a very lively area fully of eating options, shops etc . As a woman, I felt completely safe walking alone after dark. The check-in and check-out were efficient and fast. The complementary breakfast buffet was plentiful (included smoked salmon, fresh fruit etc) and despite the many guests there was never an issue finding a table. There are 5 high speed elevators servicing the hotel which made room access very easy and fast. We asked for a room with a view and were lucky to be accommodated on one of the top floors. The room was a good size, plenty of light from a huge floor to ceiling window and 3 choices of light blocking curtains which made for a great morning sleep. From the room to the common areas everything was absolutely spotless clean! I would absolutely recommend RIU!
Disliked: I would have loved to have a coffee and tea making station in the room.
