My new favourite place!
Liked: Loved everything about this hotel, which had resort vibes. I chose it for the pool and wasn't disappointed! The room was lovely, I'm an interior designer and LOVED the warm tones and timber panelling *** Please someone from Crystalbrook get in touch & tell me what laminate it is in room 323 (we stayed 5 nights from April 21).The restaurants were all great, staff are all so friendly particularly Sam the friendly blonde lady on the front desk and Miki in the Paper Crane bar. The breakfast buffet at Paper Crane was very good, lots of choice. We went to Rocco on our last night, we had booked a table with a view via the front desk but this hadn't been advised to the restaurant staff. However they worked really hard to accommodate us on the verandah and the food was very good (tho quite pricey).
Disliked: No real complaints but if I had to pick something I'd say the bed was a little too soft for my liking. Also having to pay public holiday rates for hotel food - of course people are going to be at a hotel on a public holiday. Rocco Restaurant was a little bit expensive for what it was (nice food but not fine dining). Our main complaint was that some guests would hog the day beds by the pool all day. We saw one couple literally park their towels on two beds from 8am, go off to breakfast, come back for an hour or two, then disappear again for a few hours, and so on all day, and every time we were at the pool (which wasn't all day) they had the same two beds "reserved" as they came & went. Another pair of ladies came along in their walking gear in the morning, dumped their towels and bags on two prime location chairs, then left for what looked like it would be a good walk and possibly breakfast too (we were in the pool an hour that time and didn't see them come back, though their spots were saved the whole yime as others walked around unable to find a seat). It was really hard to get a spot by the pool because of a number of these selfish guests. Difficult for the hotel to police unfortunately! But the little red "Taken" signs should not be allowed!

Had a beautiful stay, Room...
Liked: Breakfast was very nice, although a bit of a change up would also be welcomed. Also centrally located near lots of reaturants which was great. Would certainly stay here again if in Cairns. Did not dissappoint.
Disliked: Beach sand near the pool. Could feel sand at times on the bottom in the spa.
