Liked: John is a very nice person who attends your needs. Room was large and breakfast was included. Parking was free. Location: 15 minuts walk.

Great location in Mt Victoria

Liked: Breakfast was great. We are gluten free and there was a wide range of cereals to choose from. For the gluten eaters there is toast and a wide selection of spreads, tea and coffee and juice. John has done a fantastic job of renovating the inside of the house since the fire that damaged it. We stayed with other family and it was nice to have a bathroom for each couple. Location is easy to get to and not far to walk from the bus stop on the mt vic side of the bus tunnel.If you have a car there is parking close by on the street and John gave us a guest coupon to put in the window of our car so we could park in the coupon or resident parks.
Disliked: As other guests have commented the host can be confrontational - Fawlty towers comes to mind. Listen carefully, he doesn’t like to be asked twice and is scathing of what he considers dumb questions. And don’t leave front door open as it is a security risk. Or stay too long at breakfast or eat too much jam. If you are easily offended best stay elsewhere, otherwise it is a great place to stay, cheap, comfortable and close to everything.

Liked: I had a car accident just as I got to Wellington (hit a pole in front of the guest house).John was immediately there to help me clean up and assist. Super friendly and helpful!The room was cozy and had all necessities. The location is just a short walk to the center/pier. It does go up and down a steep hill though - so be prepared.Great stay!
