The Residence Inn by Marriott Berkeley blends upscale comfort with a laid-back vibe right in the heart of downtown Berkeley. Just a 10-minute walk from the University of California, this contemporary 4-star hotel is a great base for exploring the East Bay’s live music offerings. Featuring a sun terrace, shared lounge, fitness center, and in-house restaurant, it’s an ideal home base for concert-goers looking to unwind after a night out.
Location is everything, and this hotel delivers—less than five miles from major East Bay venues like the Fox Theater and Paramount Theater. Its central Berkeley location means you can catch a show and be back in your room in minutes. Soundproofed rooms help ensure a quiet night’s sleep post-concert. With 24-hour front desk service and a late check-out at noon, there’s no need to rush the morning after a late night.
Whether you’re fueling up before a show or grabbing a bite after, the food scene here is convenient and flexible. The hotel offers a daily buffet breakfast—perfect for late risers—and has a restaurant on-site for light meals. While there’s no 24/7 room service, the in-room kitchenettes (in select rooms) let you whip up snacks any time. Plus, you're within walking distance of dozens of local eateries and late-night bites.
While the hotel itself doesn’t host live performances, you’re just a short ride or walk from some of the East Bay’s best music venues, bars, and lounges. Prefer something more low-key? Sip a local craft beer at the hotel’s casual bar or check out nearby wine bars and music cafés in Berkeley’s artsy downtown.
Guests rave about the clean, spacious rooms, the friendly staff, and the unbeatable location. Many reviewers highlight how easy it was to get to nearby music venues and appreciate the modern amenities like the rooftop terrace and fitness center. The kitchenette-equipped rooms are especially popular for longer stays and group travel.
Some guests noted that parking is limited and comes with an extra charge, so plan ahead if you're driving. Others mentioned that while the hotel is centrally located, it’s not right next to the BART station—though it’s still walkable. Also, if you're expecting luxury-level dining, the on-site restaurant is more functional than fancy.
If you're heading to a show in Berkeley or Oakland, Residence Inn by Marriott Berkeley offers the perfect mix of comfort, convenience, and post-concert chill.

Liked: Breakfast was excellent, lots of choices and tasted great. The room was large and the mini kitchen was so cute my kids opted to cook in rather than dine out. The bathroom was a great layout for a crew of 4. They welcomed my dog with a dog treat at the front desk too. Would love to stay here again.
Disliked: $50 per night for parking and $150 pet fee.

Easy to access, large hotel,...
Liked: The buzz in the foyer. The check-in staff. The laundry facilities. The gym. The size of the rooms and the sofa bed. The speed of the elevators.
Disliked: The breakfast - it's a mess! The food itself is below standard. Over packaged, over cooked, over processed - other than the fruit there was not 1 other item that was healthy and without added sugars. Extremely disappointing. Cut the sugars!!
