We love this hotel and use if when we go to the Norfolk area. Everyone is nice, we love the area and it's close to the Portsmouth concert venue. It's clean and the view is fantastic.
Liked: Everyone is so nice and the view is fantastic.
Disliked: Slight smell in the room.

Renaissance Portsmouth, VA IC Norcom...
Liked: I love the location. We went to Roger Brown's, which is in walking distance to the hotel. We also loved the view from our room, overlooking the water and docks.
Disliked: Our room telephone did not work after the 1st day. It took 3 hours to have 3 bottles of water delivered to our room and they weren't cold at all. The valet attendants were away from their station whenever we came down for the keys to our car. It was pulled around to the front but no one was immediately available to hand us our keys.

Liked: Staff was nice in general. Had breakfast included as part of my package but they gave the vouchers out like we didn't pay.Breakfast was great. Diningroom waaaaay too cold even with a sweater on. Nice view, comfortable bed
Disliked: Upon check in they swiped my credit card three times stating it wouldn't go thru. (I gave him 2 diff cards just to make sure it wasn't me) Meanwhile I get a text from Citibank showing $825 hold. I showed the gentleman but he swiped again anyway. Soooo $825 was on hold three different times in the end. (the room is worth 250 if it was trashed but OK) The hotel claimed they closed out the bill to release the funds but nothing released and there went my shopping trip! The next customer was also told their card was rejected...clearly an old system that needs to be upgraded. Caused a major inconvenience and they didn't seem to care they tied up over 2K of funds. Oh yeah, don't pay the valet. They charge your room. One of the valets took my money the first day. When I attempted to pay the 2nd day that's when I was informed by a different valet.The Jacuzzi is beat up. It looks like someone took a sledgehammer to it.
