The Spotlight on Red Lion Inn and Suites Victoria

Comfort and Convenience Just Outside Downtown Victoria

Modern yet budget-friendly, Red Lion Inn and Suites Victoria offers a laid-back base for concert-goers who want easy access to the city without the downtown price tag. Located on Douglas Street, the hotel sits right along key bus routes and is just a minute from Uptown Shopping Center. Rooms are equipped with free Wi-Fi, cable TV, microwaves, and mini-fridges—perfect for late-night leftovers.

The vibe here is relaxed and practical, with handy extras like an outdoor seasonal pool and two on-site restaurants, making it a smart pick for music lovers.

Why Concert-goers love it

Just off major bus routes, the Red Lion makes it easy to get to downtown venues without the hassle of parking. After the show, you can count on public transport or a short rideshare back. The hotel offers flexible amenities like 24-hour laundry and in-room fridges for late-night snacks. While it's not right in the action, it’s far enough for a quieter night’s rest post-gig.

Who this Hotel is great for

- Groups of friends looking for shared, affordable accommodation
- Solo travelers catching a must-see show
- Couples wanting a chill weekend with quick city access
- Fans needing a quiet spot to recharge after the encore
- Budget-conscious guests who don’t mind a short trip to the venues

Food and Drink Options

With two on-site restaurants, you won’t have to go far for a bite. While there’s no 24/7 room service, each room has a microwave and fridge for your own midnight snacks. The surrounding area also offers several walkable dining options, and breakfast is available—perfect after a late night out.

Nightlife Options

Though the hotel itself doesn’t host live music, its location makes it easy to explore nearby bars and lounges. Uptown Shopping Center and downtown Victoria are a quick bus or cab ride away, offering plenty of spots to keep the night going or wind down with a local craft beer.

What People Say

Guests often praise the value for money and room cleanliness. Many appreciate the convenient location on a major transit route, and the on-site dining scores points for being reliable and affordable. The pool gets a thumbs-up in warmer months, and staff are described as friendly and helpful.

Areas for Improvement

Some guests mention that the hotel is a little dated in its decor, and rooms facing Douglas Street can get traffic noise. While not in the heart of downtown, the trade-off is a quieter stay and better rates.

The Bottom Line

For concert-goers wanting a comfy, affordable stay with easy access to venues and late-night amenities, Red Lion Inn and Suites Victoria hits the right notes.

Good accommodation for a few...

Liked: Good kitchenette in room, nice big TV and excellent heated outdoor pool. Two minute walk to Delicious pizza and very good Chinese. Side note, the folks at Mr Lube next door were friendly and excellent art helping us obtain and fit two new tires to a car that has quite specialized fitting.
Disliked: Onsite bar/restaurant not our liking.

Reasonably priced hotel

Liked: Very roomy (for 2 people) 1 bedroom suite. Clean and friendly, helpful staff.A comfortable layout. Great location for our needs. A reasonable price for the room size with a kitchenette in Victoria. We did not use the pool so cannot comment on it
Disliked: We were on the 4th floor facing the front parking lot. The window was single pain glass and the traffic noise (lots of sirens) was loud even with the window closed. Last time we stayed in a more renovated room overlooking the pool that did not have this issue and had a newer bed and appliances, too.The king bed in this area was a bit hard for our taste. During our 4 night stay we, occasionally, saw little groupings of 3 or 4 extremely tiny ants in different areas. Mostly the tub surround. Not enough to put us off. (The hotel was going to address this issue. Our last stay in the renovated room last year did not have any)

Passable

Liked: The room was beautifully appointed and had lots of conveniences like a kitchenette, ironing board and laundry drying cord in the bathroom.
Disliked: However, the room was tightly packed with furniture, making it cramped and hard for 2 people to move about. We couldn't find parking until later that night. The double bed seemed smaller and shorter than normal, and I was uncomfortable all night (shared with my husband), which is unusual. The staff were cordial and somewhat professional, but not particularly warm and welcoming. It felt like it was "just a job" for them.I was surprised that, with all the other thoughtful amenities offered, the shower curtain rail wasn't curved to make showering a more spacious experience. Overall, it was good value for money, but that's the main reason we would return.
