Red Lion Hotel Boise Downtown

I would not recommend this hotel.

Liked: The hotel was close to downtown.
Disliked: The staff was not very friendy. The hotel itself needs updates; did not seem very clean.

So much unrealized potential

Liked: Great view from the tower rooms. Clean and comfortable bed/lines. Clean bathroom. Nice product provided. Affordability. The room was decent with potential to be great but...read below.
Disliked: Filthy common spaces. Filthy pool. Hot tub jets didn't work. Pool area gate unlocked, homeless population around facilities. Strip club across the street and cops had to show up there. The entire 5th floor common hallway smelled like dirty diapers for 3 days (trash?). Facilities need maintenance. Front of hotel filthy and had overflowing trash bins.. Broken cigarette receptacle with butts scattered everywhere. Cars with flat tires in parking. It seemed like they'd been there awhile. At least half the guests we encountered were visibly intoxicated. Many on drugs. Minifridge in room stopped working. Netflix available but didn't work. Only one coffee pod provided. I could go on. This hotel was much nicer to stay at 5 years ago. Maintenance was neglected and they were admittedly understaffed which may explain the cleanliness issues.

Liked: Staff was friendly.
Disliked: No ac in room. Front desk was only able to provide a fan. Outdated hotel. Check in took a while since only 1 person was checking in.

Poor

Disliked: Had a double bed room booked but was told because of understaffing they weren't able to clean the room so we were given a single king size bed instead. Not very clean facilities and pretty outdated. Also seems to attract interesting people with the general area and torch lounge being across the street. Could definitely find better spots in Boise for not much more.

Disliked: Our room disgusting used q-tip in sink floors filthy food stuck on them hair on bed one bed wasn’t even made looks like room was never cleaned old pasta behind television we checked out immediately I also tooled pictures in hope we would get our money back oh and the phone didn’t work it was so dirty it had hair on it as well I would never recommend this place the lobby looked like it hadn’t seen a vacuum or shampoo in months.We didn’t drive 12hrs to immediately check out and drive another 2 hrs to check in at another place I’m not understanding why we are not getting our money back i am reaching out to the health department and your local news station!!I have more photos but it doesn’t let me load them

Liked: I’m am mortified that Bookings.com would even list as a 1 star this place was a nightmare and so disgusting I would not stay here if you paid me I would rather sleep in my rental car ! I had to pack and leave!!! Security issues and filthy disgusting nothing like photos green pool view from balcony was a strip club and hardly any employees to help out with my concerns that never were answered my security latch on my door was broken and sticky gross stuff everywhere on door knobs and floor stained sheets this place is not worth $20 a night my toilet was clogged and the air didn’t work the carpet in hallway was taped with box tap every 2-3 feet i tripped and feel my sandal got stuck i flipped over my suitcase i ended up leaving a day earlier and booking not far down the room for no more than $50 for 5* star hotel im very disappointed and feel this hotel should not be even open i expect a refund most ridiculous horrible experience ever

Disliked: This experience was horrible! We went this past week we booked in advance, we get the room tired from the travel with our 2 month old and the bathroom was a mess ! The toilet was disgusting! Full of sh*% we asked the staff to clean it for us but started questioning us, we were super upset we were just there for 10min we had to leave the premises because of the smell and just by looking at how bad the bathroom was and no one wanted to do anything about it ! We asked for a refund and till this day we haven’t heard anything from them and we keep calling. How disappointing! Never stay here
