Liked: The staff was very nice and the hotel was about a 15-minute walk to a subway station. The location was reasonable for the price paid. It was quiet around the hotel too, so it felt safer than I had expected. I was able to walk to the Jacx & Co. foodhall, which is pretty nice and was also able to walk to a Joe Coffee Company about 15 mins away to grab a good coffee in the morning. The hotel is also relatively close to LGA airport so if you intend on using lyft, it's about a $30 ride.
Disliked: The hotel itself is quite outdated - the elevator creaks, the hallways are eerie and the hallway carpets are not as clean as I would have liked. The room is dark, a lot of chipped paint and the windows are quite dirty. It definitely didn't feel like a fancy hotel stay. The wifi was intermittent, the key cards had to be exchanged every time I returned to the hotel in the evening because they'd stop working and the showers could have been cleaner too. I do wish I had paid a little more to stay in a more modern hotel since I was staying 3 nights. But if you're staying for just 1 or max 2 nights, it is fine. Note: Booking.com might misinform you that there is a shuttle from the airport to the hotel, this is not true. They do not offer a shuttle service.

Good value for money, some...

Liked: - The close proximity to Manhattan was a huge plus for us, since it was our first time in NY and wanted to be able to visit sights easily.- We also had a great view over Manhattan from our balcony having booked the room offering that amity. - Considering NY prices, I think we got a great value for money staying here.
Disliked: - The room was pretty clean, however there was small details that told us the place hasn?t been ?deep cleaned? for a while, i.e. the edges of the wall in the room with the toilet were a bit dirty and we did find a small bug running around there. - The radiator in the room was very noisy when we turned the heating up. It seemed like it was quite old so it might be worth considering fixing or replacing that.- The staff were super friendly, however we encountered an issue where the water was stopped in the room for a day but we were announced about it quite late and weren?t provided with an alternative method of using water (maybe something like a bucket of water, multiple small bottles etc)

Pleasant and did the job

Liked: The foyer is lovely, I imagine this hotel is great in the summer. Most of the staff were always pleasant, polite and accommodating. The team for the cleaning service took care to make sure our room was tidy to good standards everyday.
Disliked: Location isn?t ideal unless you?re driving. Perfect for runners or those who want to get away from the hubbub of the city life. Most places to eat are at least a 20 minute walk away and the hotel has a microwave and vending machine but no offerings for hot food or meals. Also found that the walk in shower smelt very much like ammonia which made it uncomfortable to shower on the first few days. i had to purchase some cleaning products to rid of the smell. the view from our balcony was limited but I imagine this would be the case across most of the rooms as the hotel building is designed in a way that it would be.
