Liked: We booked this as a last minute stop on our journey home via Chatsworth House expecting a nice village pub / hotel. The whole village was charming as was the hotel. Tucked away in its own grounds next to a river it ended our road trip on a high. The hotel was lovely and the staff couldn’t have been more friendly and attentive.We ate in the restaurant and had a lovely meal. Not a huge menu but all beautifully done and a welcome change from the usual pub /restaurant menus that we’d experienced while we’d been away.
Disliked: Not much to dislike. If I was being picky there was a little noise from a nearby road.

Liked: The location was perfect - lovely setting with Ashford-in-the-Water. The staff were helpful and friendly. The food was excellent - both on Sunday and the breakfast. Can highly recommend.
Disliked: Nothing really. If you had the windows open, there is some traffic noise from the main road but it is not constant.

It was our 4th Wedding...

Liked: Both our breakfasts were superb. My wife commented on the quality and taste of the scrambled eggs. We loved having our own garden patio area. The staff were most friendly, helpful and genuine.

Liked: Friendly staff, comfortable bed, quaint location, good breakfast (excellent croissants particularly), room very clean.
Disliked: It's our own fault, as the info is available on their website, but when trying to book dinner at 6pm, we found out that the kitchens close after 5pm on Sundays. The reason why we'd chosen this hotel was for the restaurant, so thought I would mention since other people might also assume that dinner would be available every day. We were just quite disappointed, as we were only staying one night, and had set aside the money for a special meal (again, totally acknowledge that the info was available online. I have just never encountered somewhere closing for the evening, so didn't even think to check). Food options nearby were limited, and most restaurants were closed at 6pm.Also, if you have longer hair, you might want to bring a shower cap, as our room had an overhead rain shower only.
