Great location. Nice hotel

Frightening
Liked: The location opposite the park and a short walk to Queen Victoria Markets was good.
Disliked: I was disappointed that my room did not have a view of the park. The incident that destroyed any good feelings I may have had about the hotel, however, was this. On Saturday night (26/04/2025) at 11 p.m. I received a call to my room from a woman screaming and shouting in a language used in the Indian subcontinent. I understood nothing, so I hung up. Then I thought the woman might have been being assaulted in her room, so I tried to call reception. No-one answered, so I hung up eventually. Then I saw a phone number in very small print on the bedside phone, so I tried to call that phone number with my mobile phone. No-one answered. After 5 minutes, I hung up and tried to go back to sleep.A few minutes later I got a call from the same woman who made the original call. This time she was shouting and screaming in heavily accented Indian-English. She said that there was a bomb in the hotel and I should run out of my room immediately and go down the stairs, not to use the lift. She told me to leave as I was and take nothing with me.This was distressing of course. I tried to ring reception again. This time, after about 5 minutes, someone answered the phone, but it seems that that person was having a problem understanding English because they did not reply to what I had said about the phone calls I'd received, but put me on hold. Very upsetting. Finally, someone else answered the phone. She said she was the manager. She told me if there was an emergency, the hotel would sound alarms. She said that there was no bomb. (I wondered how she could know that.) I asked if something like this had happened previously. She said that it had never happened before. She said I should disconnect my room phone from the wall and if anyone came knocking on my door, I should use my mobile phone to call reception. I told her that I had just tried to do that but no-one answered.I asked her if she could trace the room from which the call came.

Very good option for families...
Liked: I'm originally from Melbourne but live abroad. While visiting family and friends with my son, I wanted to give him a couple of days off meeting new people and our own space, so booked the Radisson for three nights. Our room was spacious, allowing him to play while the large TV in the room also kept him entertained. The hotel is directly across from Flagstaff Gardens, which we made use of every day, especially the playground which is under a minutes walk from the hotel. Queen Victoria Market is less than 5 minutes walk away, which he also enjoyed and we used for shop for the staples we needed - fruit, bread, etc. - for our stay; while the hotel is only 10 minutes walk from the centre of the city. All-in-all, we were very happy and I would use the Radisson again.
Disliked: The bathroom was large but showing its age. It was well-appointed with towels and had basic amenities but in the bath / shower, there were no shampoos or conditioners and only small bars of soap. It's been awhile since I stayed at a hotel that doesn't supply all of these.
