The Spotlight on Radisson Blu Edwardian Vanderbilt

Classic London elegance minutes from the music

The Radisson Blu Edwardian Vanderbilt is a stylish, historic hotel set in a 19th-century Grade II listed building in South Kensington. With period features and a modern touch, it's perfectly located just a short walk from iconic museums and the Royal Albert Hall. Expect elegant surroundings, high-speed Wi-Fi, and thoughtful extras like complimentary bottled water and in-room film libraries.

Why Concert-goers love it

You can’t beat the location – less than a 10-minute walk to the Royal Albert Hall and just steps from Gloucester Road and South Kensington Tube stations, making late-night travel a breeze. While you're close to the action, the hotel’s quiet, classic interiors provide a peaceful retreat after a high-energy show. Check-in starts at 15:00 and check-out is by 11:00, giving you time to sleep in after a late night.

Who this Hotel is great for

  • Groups of friends looking to explore London and enjoy a gig
  • Solo travelers catching a bucket-list artist at Royal Albert Hall
  • Couples planning a musical weekend getaway
  • Fans wanting a quieter post-concert recovery space
  • Budget-conscious music fans who still want a touch of luxury

Food and Drink Options

The on-site restaurant, Scoff & Banter, serves up delicious European dishes with seasonal, locally sourced ingredients – perfect for pre-show dinners or post-gig bites. Breakfast is available and great for late risers after a long night. While 24/7 room service isn't listed, the central location means late-night eats are just a short walk away.

Nightlife Options

You're in a prime spot to explore Kensington’s classy bar scene, with cozy pubs and cocktail lounges nearby. While there's no on-site live music or nightclub, the hotel’s elegant vibe makes it a great place to unwind with a glass of wine after the show.

What People Say

Guests love the hotel’s charming architecture and friendly, professional staff. The proximity to concert venues and museums gets high praise, as does the comfort of the rooms and the quality of the food at Scoff & Banter. Many reviewers mention how easy it is to get around the city from this location.

Areas for Improvement

Some guests mention that rooms can be on the smaller side – not unusual for a heritage London building. A few reviewers noted that the older building means there are quirks like narrow hallways or older windows, but it adds to the charm for most.

The Bottom Line

For concert-goers who want a classy, comfortable stay within walking distance of the Royal Albert Hall, the Radisson Blu Edwardian Vanderbilt hits all the right notes.

Great location for where I...

Liked: Bed was big and comfortable.
Disliked: Room was very stark with no pictures etc. Poorly signed rabbit warren of corridors to reach room.

All in all, this could...

Liked: Great location and very close to the tube. Really easy to find
Disliked: Staff were inattentive and really disinterested. There was quite a wait at reception checking in, same checking out. The deposit for the room was taken but when I asked when that might be returned they said “Monday or Tuesday because of the weekend….” Bit of a scam. We had booked 2 rooms but one had not been cleaned. Reception handed the keys over but it was still unmade. I appreciate this happens from time to time but the organisation of this hotel was clearly not good. Reception was crowded with people but no staff seemed to care or step in to help. Eventually they did but it needed a lengthy queue to form. Then we decided to have a drink before heading out (3.30pm on a Saturday). I stood at the main bar and watched 6 people make one pot of tea. I was ignored for a good 3 mins until one of the staff asked if I was OK. I asked for a beer and a glass of champagne. Of the 5 beers available they only had Guinness working. I questioned this to be told, only Guinness, no other beer! I chose to leave the 6 of them to do battle with the, clearly very technical, coffee machine.

Smart convenient hotel with friendly...

Liked: Pleasantly surprised by the size of my single room and it had a small double bed and full bathroom including a bath. Great aspect to front and windows opened fully. Decorated in classic style (not dated). Great coffee machine. Complimentary water, drink on arrival and snacks in the bar. Very pleasant and friendly staff. Very convenient for tube.
Disliked: Weeds in planters on balcony. Scrambled eggs only, no fried eggs for breakfast.

Glad we were only staying...

Liked: Location and building architecture.Restaurant was lovely. Nice selection of fruit at breakfast.
Disliked: Room was dark and had limited natural light from an obscured glass skylight only. Door was so heavy I could barely open it. Bed was on a raised area in the room with two steps up and down. Not ideal in a dark room!We asked, but there were no veggie sausages available at breakfast. No instant decaf coffee available for the room either. Not everyone likes a short Nespresso coffee. Reception staff appeared disparaging about our Booking.com booking. We felt the room we were given reflected the fact we had booked through Booking.com.

Great hotel but wouldn’t stay...

Liked: Great location, nice staff, good bar and restaurant.
Disliked: The room was tiny and not soundproof from the others around it. Woken up by someone coughing next door. A shame as I’ve stayed before in a great room which was more spacious and better
