Disappointing - 2.0 out of 5

Karen, Guernsey, visiting The Great Hall Exeter Wed, 20 November 2024

Room 106 advertised as “elegant”; the room certainly was not. Small, badly decorated, stained carpet, small double bed, only one bedside table, not one painting etc., only one mug, no TV remote and a grubby blind that had to be permanently lowered in order to use the bathroom. Only being there for three nights, I should have complained but didn’t. So I do take responsibility for that. But it was so disappointing.

Liked: The location, breakfast and staff.
Disliked: The room!

Very good

Liked: Welcoming staff, friendly atmosphere, decoration of the room and other spaces chosen with care. Also breakfast was served with care, with fresh, tasty ingredients and a lot of choice. All over: a lovely setting both inside the hotel as well as the location on the quiet square. Good value for money!

Liked: The only place I'll stay in Exeter. Amazing staff, great breakfast with gluten free options and perfectly located for the station, town and university. Always immaculately clean and welcoming, the recent refresh of the decor is beautiful.

Perfect night away

Liked: Lovely old property , big room, efficient lift, fabulous breakfast and lovely touches like fresh brownies at reception. Staff were all really kind and helpful .
Disliked: Bathroom was very tired but clean, one bedside light didn’t work so we swapped it for another. An additional mirror would be useful in 101.
