Disappointing - 2.0 out of 5

Karen, Guernsey, visiting The Great Hall Exeter Wed, 20 November 2024

Room 106 advertised as “elegant”; the room certainly was not. Small, badly decorated, stained carpet, small double bed, only one bedside table, not one painting etc., only one mug, no TV remote and a grubby blind that had to be permanently lowered in order to use the bathroom. Only being there for three nights, I should have complained but didn’t. So I do take responsibility for that. But it was so disappointing.

Liked: The location, breakfast and staff.
Disliked: The room!

Good

Liked: Amazing staff and location. Average age of guests was about 75. It was lovely to see them all having such a wonderful time. Lots of characters were met and very interesting and entertaining chats had. The entertainment was great.
Disliked: Breakfast wasn't 'exceptional'. It was just ok. Service was amazing though.

Liked: Great hotel in a great location!
Disliked: Only thing that could add to the all round greatness would be if it had its own car park.

Excellent location, accommodation, and staff!

Liked: The staff at the hotel were amazing! They held our bags until check-in, gave us maps and advice on how to reach local attractions, called taxis for us...all in all, wonderful! The breakfast was also wonderful!
