Liked: Was a great location near restaurant and shopping
Disliked: 2/5 just now on Google I booked 2 rooms on 2/15/2020, non-smoking rooms. I was awaken at around 11:20 by the smell of cigarette smoke, my daughter was in the next room beside me. We had room 216 & 214. She put a towel at the base of the door in hopes of the smoke not lingering into her room as my grand baby was sleeping. My husband called down to the front desk to report this and the guy first of all asked what time did we check in? And why were we just calling at this time of night. We again told him that the smell of smoked awaken us. He didn?t say I?m sorry for the inconvenience or anything. He acted as though we were bothering him, he was rude and very unprofessional,. We told him we would just call the home office and his response was ?Go Ahead then? and abruptly hung up. Needles to say I was up most of the night after that. If this is the type person that represents your customer service then he is really about to tear down your business. I feel that I am the customer and when I pay money for a service that I should at least feel as though I matter. Patched up holes, broken key...
Liked: The breakfast was awesome. My son was super excited to see that they had grits, sausage biscuits/gravy and homefries on the bar in addition to the typical waffles, eggs and pastries. The guy who was running breakfast service was on top of it! The breakfast area was packed yet he still managed it make sure the food never ran out & every table was wiped down and clean as soon as someone left the spot. I also noticed that he made an effort to say good morning to every guest that walked into the breakfast area. I'll be honest, breakfast isn't normally one of the aspects of a hotel that I pay much attn to but his service was definitely the best part of our stay & the property.
They also had super comfy beds which is always a big plus. The beds were the only part of the hotel that seemed up to par with the revamped Choice Hotels brand.
Disliked: The hotel was very old. I purposefully booked a hotel that had indoor access to rooms as I was traveling by myself with my 9-yo son. Upon checkin they informed me that the only rooms available were exterior access. The room keycards had to be reprogrammed twice due to the reader going out (not fun when your trying to enter your room for 5-10min each time.) - we were even approached by someone asking to borrow $1 while trying to enter our room on Sunday afternoon. From the inside, you could see a 1/4" crack between the door and the wall which allowed cold air to stream in - thankfully the beds were across the room so it didn't affect us when going to bed. There were holes that had been patched in the bathroom wall but were left unpainted.. I guess those took away from noticing the dead bug smushed in the emergency exit sign on the back of the bathroom door

Personally will not stay again.
Liked: The lady at the front at check in was nice.
Disliked: Because the room wasn't completely clean and the sheer curtain was tore and I had to close the larger curtain for when my visitor came. Then they charged $30 to my card for the already torn curtain so I'm waiting on the manager to fix this. The maid service should have noticed it was like that when they cleaned before my reservation. It looked as if it had been that way a while. I will go all the way to the corporate level for this because I am a property manager and I would never do anything like that in my travel. Also the nightly rate charged twice. I called and they said that its a hold fee for booking but I didn't have that on there until I paid. Also neighbors upstairs and next to me fought in the middle of the night.
