The Spotlight on Quality Inn & Suites Windsor

Comfortable, budget-friendly stay near the border – perfect for concert nights

Modern yet simple, Quality Inn & Suites Windsor offers a clean and friendly home base just a 5-minute drive from the Detroit/Windsor Tunnel. With cozy rooms featuring free WiFi, refrigerators, and coffee makers, this hotel is a great pick for fans heading across the border for a big show. You’ll find warm wood furnishings and a laid-back vibe that makes it easy to unwind after a night of music.

Why Concert-goers love it

Just minutes from downtown Detroit venues like the Joe Louis Arena, this hotel is ideal for fans looking to stay close to the action while still enjoying a quieter night’s sleep. Border crossing is quick and convenient, and with check-in at 3:00 PM and checkout at 11:00 AM, you’ve got enough time to settle in and recover. The low-key neighborhood keeps noise levels down, and local taxis or rideshares can get you to shows within minutes.

Who this Hotel is great for

  • Groups of friends heading to a concert and splitting a room
  • Solo travelers making a cross-border music pilgrimage
  • Couples planning a quick and easy concert weekend
  • Fans who want a quiet, no-fuss place to crash post-show
  • Budget-conscious music lovers who’d rather spend on tickets than luxury

Food and Drink Options

You’ll wake up to a hot continental breakfast that’s perfect for those late-night returns. While there’s no restaurant on-site, the surrounding area has multiple eateries within walking distance, and you’ll find plenty of spots open late on the Detroit side of the tunnel. A coffee maker in every room helps with those early morning recoveries.

Nightlife Options

While the hotel itself is more chill than party-central, you’re just a short ride away from Detroit’s buzzing nightlife. Whether you're into live music bars, cocktail lounges, or dance clubs, you’ll find options on both sides of the border. Windsor’s own bar scene is also gaining traction, and you can always wind down with a drink in your room.

What People Say

Guests love the friendly staff, clean rooms, and especially the location—close enough to downtown Detroit for easy access, but far enough to avoid the noise and chaos. Many reviewers say it’s a great value for the price, and the included breakfast is a welcome bonus.

Areas for Improvement

The decor is a bit dated, and while rooms are clean, some guests mention that hallways and common areas could use a refresh. There’s no on-site bar or dining, so plan to explore the neighborhood or grab something on your way back from the show.

The Bottom Line

For music fans crossing the border for a concert, Quality Inn & Suites Windsor delivers on comfort, convenience, and value without the downtown Detroit price tag.

Overall the stay was ok. Prices were high especially when I had to pay an additional $20.00 for 2 teenagers. Continual breakfast could have been better. Place smelled nice. Television was nice.

Liked: Beds were comfortable
Disliked: Breakfast was ok but for the price it could have been better

A simple, friendly hotel with...

Liked: Our stay at this 3-star hotel was decent overall, with a few highlights and some areas for improvement. The breakfast was standard for a budget North American hotel—you’ll find the usual suspects: butter, jam, cereals, instant scrambled eggs (powder-based), and possibly hard-boiled eggs (though I’m not entirely sure). One fun touch was the DIY waffle station using pre-made batter, which was a nice option. However, the complete absence of vegetables was surprising and a bit disappointing. On the bright side, the breakfast attendant was extremely friendly and welcoming, making a real effort to ensure guests felt comfortable and cared for. Her cheerful presence was definitely a plus.A practical benefit worth noting is the availability of laundry facilities (washer and dryer)—a huge convenience during longer stays.
Disliked: All in all, it's a functional, no-frills place with warm staff and basic amenities. With a bit more attention to breakfast variety, especially fresh options, it could offer a more well-rounded experience.

Never coming back

Liked: Overall, the stay was average — not terrible, but certainly not impressive. Compared to other Quality Inn locations, the facilities and decor here are noticeably outdated. The best thing about this hotel is the location: if you’re just looking for a quick overnight stop before heading to the U.S. through the tunnel, it’s right by the entrance.
Disliked: Poorly managed with staff unwilling to take responsibility. That said, I had a very frustrating personal experience with their handling of my reservation. I originally booked two separate nights under two separate reservations, but due to a change in plans, I canceled the second night in advance. Somehow, the hotel mistakenly canceled both nights. I had to spend time on the phone with the booking site to sort things out, and in the end, instead of honoring the original booking, the hotel made me pay again on the spot — at a higher rate, and for a downgraded room (from a suite to a standard double). What truly shocked me, though, was their dishonesty when I later filed a complaint with the booking platform. The hotel actually claimed that I had called in and asked to cancel both reservations — which is a blatant lie. What kind of guest cancels all reservations only to turn around and book a room again at a higher price, especially in downtown Windsor, where hotel rooms are far from scarce? When I pointed out to the booking site that I had never called to cancel any reservations (I had only canceled the second night online, for free), they reviewed their system logs, email records, and customer service call logs. After verifying everything, they(booking site) refunded me the price difference — clear proof that I did not cancel the original booking myself.
