Liked: Room size was very large. Beds were excellent. Not directly on the lake, but just a short walk. No restaurant, so we walked over to the lakefront hotel to eat. Good value. Our family of 6 fit into a single room, we saved a lot of money this way.

Liked: It was in a very convenient location near to the airport. The hotel shuttle service operates 24/7 & we were able to get a lift from the airport in spite of our delayed arrival at 2.30am!It is also close to Lake Spenard & we enjoyed walks around the lake & watching the seaplanes.
Disliked: It was quite noisy at night. Also our door-keys often didn’t work - at one stage we were locked in our room, but staff acted quickly to resolve the situation.

★☆☆☆☆ "RUN. Don’t Puffin Walk."
Liked: Not knowing Anchorage, we booked this hotel based on three things: its proximity to the airport, decent-looking pictures, and a price that suggested an 8/10 experience. Spoiler alert: It was more like a 2/10—if you're grading on a curve, in the dark, while blindfolded. This place should have been condemned years ago. The pictures? Straight-up catfishing. The reality is more "post-apocalyptic halfway house" than “charming Alaskan lodge.”It was the most expensive—and easily the worst—stay of our entire Anchorage/Denali trip. The front desk was perpetually understaffed and confused. The airport shuttle system required a secret handshake and maybe a blood sacrifice to figure out. The “breakfast” looked like it was salvaged from a dumpster behind a day-old bread store. Our room? I’m pretty sure they just peeled off the crime scene tape before handing us the key. And the neighborhood? Let’s just say you’ll sleep with one eye open and your shoes on.I’ve traveled to 34 countries and stayed everywhere from budget hostels to five-star resorts. Only once have I had a worse experience.Avoid the Puffin Inn unless you want to regret every decision that led you here.
