Disliked: It's further than we had assumed it would be from the centre of Bilbao- our fault as we hadn't researched properly but once there we loved it and the arera , Portugalete, is really nice

Liked: On the river. Close to Brittany Ferries in Zierbena. Allows our fur babies.

Beautiful, classy hotel with friendly...

Liked: Beautiful riverside hotel right next to the old town with lots of places to eat and drink. The staff were very accommodating when the weather turned inclement so were unable to eat our breakfast outside on the terrace with the dogs.Fernando on reception was especially helpful when we arrived early, Muchas gracias!The rooms are very big, with my particular favourite facility of a Nespresso machine. Remember to bring your own pods if you want more than one cup.The room had 2 huge dog beds (which my girls preferred to their own beds which we'd lugged in from the car!) and a fabulous view of the river and the transporter bridge. Just perfect.
Disliked: Finding your way to the hotel isn't always easy, even with a sat nav, and unless you're lucky enough to get a spot in the underground car park (which we were) then you may need to park quite a way from the hotel.

A pleasant stay spoilt by...

Liked: The location is excellent
Disliked: The food was extremely expensive and the quality was poor.This has meant that we will not be staying at this hotel again which is a great pity because on the credit side the staff are extremely professional and pleasant and we have over the years stayed several times and recommended it to others. We feel that whoever is in charge of the catering and pricing needs to improve a great deal.We have recently stayed at Nh hotels and the difference in the food quality and pricing is immense.
