The Spotlight on Princess Anne Boutique Hotel

Historic Charm Meets Asheville's Live Music Energy

Modern hotels are great—but sometimes, you want something with soul. The Princess Anne Boutique Hotel delivers just that: a warm, welcoming inn in central Asheville blending historic charm with modern comforts. Located just six miles from the Biltmore Estate and a short drive from Asheville’s top live music venues, this is a great base for concert-goers looking for something more personal than a chain hotel. Think wood floors, traditional decor, and individually styled rooms that feel like home—if your home served complimentary wine and hors d'oeuvres every afternoon.

Why Concert-goers love it

This spot is a quiet retreat after a night of live music. While it’s tucked into a quieter residential part of town, you're still just minutes from popular venues and downtown nightlife. The hotel’s easy check-in from 3:00 PM gives you time to settle in, and the 11:00 AM checkout means you can sleep in after the encore. Free WiFi and flat-screen TVs are perfect for streaming the setlist again in bed.

Who this Hotel is great for

  • Groups of friends looking for a cozy base with character
  • Solo travelers chasing a bucket-list show
  • Couples making a romantic weekend of it
  • Fans who want to wind down somewhere peaceful
  • Budget-conscious music lovers who appreciate value and charm

Food and Drink Options

While there's no late-night dining menu, guests rave about the afternoon wine and hors d'oeuvres—perfect for pre-show vibes. The hotel offers a delicious breakfast that’s ideal after a late night out, and downtown Asheville’s buzzing food scene is just a short walk or ride away.

Nightlife Options

Though the Princess Anne doesn’t host live music on-site, you’re within easy reach of Asheville’s bars, lounges, and music halls. From intimate jazz clubs to lively breweries with open mic nights, downtown has it all. Prefer something mellow? Enjoy a glass of wine in the garden patio before calling it a night.

What People Say

Guests consistently praise the friendly staff, the hotel’s welcoming atmosphere, and the unbeatable mix of historic charm and modern amenities. The complimentary wine hour is a crowd favorite, and many reviewers mention how quiet and relaxing the vibe is after a night out.

Areas for Improvement

This isn’t the place for all-night partying—it’s more of a restful retreat than a party pad. Some guests noted that the historic building means fewer modern extras like elevators or fitness centers, so pack light and prepare to unwind.

The Bottom Line

If you’re looking for a stylish, quiet, and welcoming place to recharge after a show, the Princess Anne Boutique Hotel hits all the right notes.

Very good

Liked: Property is located in a quiet neighborhood about 1 mile walk from Biltmore Ave. we had the superior suite with a living room, kitchenette and a bedroom and bathroom. Not sure how big the regular rooms are. The elevators were not functioning due to flooding after Helene. Parking was free which is great because most hotels charge $50 per day. The lounge is big and relaxing, would be great if breakfast is provided because there is one cafe close by but most of the stores and restaurants are about 1 mile away ( there may be some close by that I didn’t discover). The staff is wonderful, Acorn changed our room since the first room had a leaking AC. She made me a plate of cheese and crackers when i got really hungry and the city bakery ( the nearest cafe) was closed. The bed was comfortable. All in all a good place to stay

Comfortable.

Liked: Older style place with charm and quirks.
Disliked: Limited services on site. Elevator was out of order. Floorboards creak a lot but I guess that’s part of being an older property.

Exceptional

Liked: The staff and setting are amazing. It's a hotel that immediately feels like home whilst also feeling like the service of days gone by with personable and wonderful people. The building itself is gloriously classy and cosy. The only warning would be it's a decent walk into central Asheville, this wasn't an issue at all for us. So you know what to expect the first 5 minutes are over the interstate highway. Once past that your walk is a pleasant 10 minute stroll through leafy and vibrant central Asheville before you reach Broadway. We felt safe through all these areas.Thankyou for a wonderful stay, we live 3000 miles away but will be back to Asheville I'm certain. It has won our hearts.
Disliked: My main reservation would be the air conditioning. Temporary units were fitted in our room which were noisy at night. It could do with quieter units befitting of this wonderful venue surrounded by nature.

This is a lovely hotel...

Liked: Lovely building, lovely staff, lovely rooms although quirky. It’s a charming historic hotel but definitely has suffered since Covid and the hurricane. It is nice that they still Serve wine and cheese in the afternoon.
Disliked: Since they have stopped serving breakfast, the sense of the family hotel/B&B has definitely gone. It remains a lovely place and the staff are nice, but you are very much left to your own devices! I worry that it won’t survive and it deserves to. It didn’t worry us that the lift was out of order but it might bother some.

Great hotel in lovely Asheville.

Liked: A fabulous suite here at Princess Anne hotel. Friendly & helpful staff. Complimentary glass of wine & meat & cheese was very welcome. Lots of space & very comfortable. A well equipped kitchen area & plenty of coffee. Location is good. A 25 min walk into town but there's stuff nearby too.

Disappointing - 2.0 out of 5

Not great.

Liked: The staff were the highlight; they were extremely kind, helpful, and friendly.
Disliked: Oof. This was a rough place to stay. We assumed that it would be incredible based on the ratings and the history, but it was extremely run down. And not in a cute way. The house was old, which was fine, but: 1) the elevator was broken. We're fit people and happily carried our little suitcases up the stairs. But a call first would have been nice! They should have called future guests to ask if they could walk up stairs. A good percentage of our population wouldn't have been able to climb those stairs due to mobility issues/injury; 2) inside our suite was the most disgusting rug I have ever seen in a hotel room. I'm not exaggerating and have included a photo (which doesn't fully capture it); 3) several of the mugs in the pantry were dirty and filled with old coffee grounds. These things feel small individually, but when you look at our nightly rate and the reputation of the place, they add up.It IS down the road from some great restaurants, including Liberty House. Highly recommend.
