Love this hotel - 2nd...

Liked: Lovely hotel. Based in the high street so very convenient to all the lovely sites Canterbury has to offer. Staff very friendly and helpful. Offer a discount on parking with local city council car park near by.
Disliked: Room decor is a little dated and could do with a little upgrade.

Liked: Excellent location. Friendly staff. Good choice at breakfast. Fans provided for the extreme heat.
Disliked: A bit more attention to cleanliness of cutlery at breakfast and glassware.

One of the best places...

Liked: Right in the city centre, easy to find, friendly staff, amazing room, COMFIEST bed I have ever slept on!! Opening windows. And the fact that because I had to leave early I was able to leave the key in the room on leaving.

Disliked: We were supposed to have a breakfast no one there could not get hold of anyone pretty poor when you are looking forward to something eat

Below our expectations

Liked: The hotel is in an old pretty building so no lift. It's very clean and staff tried to be helpful. Buffet breakfast was basic but acceptable although three fresh fruit offered was not that fresh. It's very well situated with everything to be reached within a short walk. Bathroom was very compact but very clean.
Disliked: The building has secondary glazing and windows can't be opened and there's no air-conditioning. We were there during the heat wave and it was sofocating. We had a fan that hardly produced a mild draft of hot air.At night there's no staff on site.Breakfast is 7.30am to 10am, one morning the breakfast room was closed until 8.30am with no previous notice, some guests had arranged trips and had to get a train and had to go without breakfast. We called the out of hours mobile number as well as the emergency number, both displayed on the window, and the hotel number but none of the calls were connected. When finally the breakfast room was opened, we were not given an apology, when we asked we were just told "the person that attends breakfast didn't turn up"
