Liked: The cleanliness and very friendly staff...and the food
Disliked: The pillows, one firm, one not...would prefer two medium firm pillows...but that's just personal choice I guess

Beautiful family weekend stay and...

Liked: The hotel is beautiful, quietly opulent and very comfortable. We travelled as a family so we booked two rooms in "the lodge" to ensure we were close to each other. Our rooms were part of a little row quite close to the entrance. We didn't hear any road noise so the proximity to the road wasn't a problem. The room was very comfortable, as was the bed and the pillows. Initially we were quite cold but we travelled during a particularly warm spell in April and the central heating wasn't switched on. The room wasn't getting any natural sunlight so the room wasn't benefitting from the outside sunshine. The staff very kindly turned the heating on for us as one of our family members was recuperating from an illness and once on, the room was very very comfortable. We ate dinner in the hotel on the first night and it was beautiful. The staff in the restaurant were very friendly and helped us with our menu choices.We had breakfast on both mornings and again, the staff were very friendly and the food was delicious. There was a selection of cooked and continental breakfasts. The venue for breakfast is the garden room and it was a beautiful setting. We had glorious weather while we were there and the sunshine beamed in creating a lovely ambience in the room.
Disliked: It would have been nice not to have to ask to put the heating on in the rooms but I understand why it was off. Perhaps someone should check on the temperature of the rooms during periods of unseasonably good weather,

Liked: Beautiful place to stay. Surrounding area is lovely. Bedrooms & Lodges are roomy and well equipped.
Disliked: Had a bit of an issue with one of the bar staff which put a bit of a dampener on one evening but other than that no issues.
