Great location, nice two Queen...

Liked: - The location is excellent. Around the corner from the Union Station Metro, which has its own entrance. We used the Metro all the time to get around. It's also in walking distance to the US Capitol. You can see it down the street.- The 24/7 coffee/tea/hot chocolate bar on the second floor was a treat.- The Dubliner Restaurant on the ground floor helped in a pinch for dinner. The live entertainment (folk singer) was way too loud. Not much in the way of dinner eateries in area. (The best menu item was the Chicken Pot Pie.) The hotel also offers free beer or wine at the Dubliner for your first night.-Staff was friendly and helpful and called for a cab on our departure.-There is also a Corner Bakery franchise a couple of doors down, which we only discovered a few days into our trip. -Room was comfortable and the bathroom was clean and nice.-A good number of USB outlets to charge various phones and electronics.-You pay a $32 or so daily facility fee, but the "free" laundry room on the third floor helped us out!
Disliked: - They offer free ear plugs, and it's not because of the traffic. Rather for the occasional sirens on emergency response vehicles. I wore the ear plugs and it was fine.- Our window view was straight into an adjacent office. Our window was basically looking into either the office building or other rooms in the hotel. Very close distance so we kept the shades closed all the time.

Excellent location, excellent staff, horrific...

Liked: The staff were extremely friendly and helpful, upgrading us from a Queen to a King without even asking. The room size was great and the location of the hotel for sightseeing was absolutely perfect. The score 'feels' a little unfair as geographically it was perfect, the staff were amazing but the downsides as listed below were hugely significant.
Disliked: The hotel only seems to have single glazed windows and it is a VERY busy location so external noise kept us awake a lot of the time. The hotel does provide earplugs but I don't want to stay in a hotel and HAVE to wear earplugs to sleep. Made all the worse as the room's air-con was probably the noisiest air-con I have ever experienced. Worse however was the fact that on 2 of the 3 nights we stayed there, deliveries occurred in the alley below our room and they were EXTREMELY noisy (metal on metal banging and shouting). To be expected maybe but when it happened extremely early in the morning (pre-0700), it was very annoying.
