The Spotlight on Phoenix Hotel

Affordable Brooklyn Base with Quick Access to NYC's Music Scene

Modern and straightforward, the Phoenix Hotel in Sunset Park, Brooklyn, offers a no-fuss stay with the essentials covered. Set just a 10-minute walk from the 36th Street subway station, this hotel puts you about 20 minutes from top Brooklyn venues and 40 minutes from Manhattan hotspots like Times Square—making it a smart pick for concert-goers who want to be close to the action without paying Midtown prices. Free Wi-Fi and parking add extra value, and the clean, air-conditioned rooms with wood flooring and flat-screen TVs make for a comfortable crash pad after a night out.

Why Concert-goers love it

Staying at Phoenix Hotel means you're just a short subway ride from some of NYC’s biggest arenas, including a 20-minute trip to the Barclays Center. The 24-hour front desk is great for late arrivals, and nearby subway access makes late-night travel simple and safe. While the hotel is located in a quieter part of Brooklyn, it’s well-connected for post-show returns. Free on-site parking is a rare bonus in the city, especially for guests driving in for a gig.

Who this Hotel is great for

  • Groups of friends looking for a budget-friendly place to crash
  • Solo travelers catching a must-see show
  • Couples wanting a Brooklyn weekend getaway
  • Fans who prefer a quieter neighborhood to unwind post-concert
  • Budget-conscious music lovers who want value without sacrificing location

Food and Drink Options

While the hotel doesn’t offer on-site dining, you’ll find several restaurants within walking distance, perfect for grabbing a bite before or after a show. Vending machines are available for late-night snacks, and with so many nearby eateries, you won’t go hungry. Breakfast spots and coffee joints are easy to find close by for a morning pick-me-up after a late night.

Nightlife Options

Though the hotel itself is more low-key, you’re just a short subway ride from Brooklyn’s bustling nightlife scene—think cozy dive bars, rooftop lounges, and live music venues. Whether you're heading to a show or just want a drink with friends, options abound without being right outside your window.

What People Say

Guests often mention the clean, comfortable rooms and the hotel’s excellent value for the price. The free parking and proximity to the subway are consistent highlights, especially for those coming in from out of town. Many also appreciate the quiet location after a hectic night out.

Areas for Improvement

Some travelers note that the hotel is fairly basic—don’t expect luxury touches here. There’s no bar or restaurant on-site, and the neighborhood is more residential than lively. Still, for the price, it’s a solid deal.

The Bottom Line

If you’re looking for a clean, budget-friendly place to stay with easy access to NYC concert venues, Phoenix Hotel checks all the right boxes.

Very poor

Liked: That I didn't own this hotel
Disliked: They don't deserve to run this hotel. Lift stopped working for 3 days and they wouldn't bother fixing it. I had my room on the 5th floor, literally made me workout.Asked for room service but it never arrived.Wifi is pathetic even though they mention we provide it.The air-conditioning is not proper, I sweated like a pig I'm 37 degrees of NYC Room so freaking conjested that you'd hit your toes for sure.

Bad

Liked: I enjoyed having a place to lay my head.
Disliked: The hotel was dirty and there were absolutely no frills. For the greater part of the night, I heard my fellow guests loudly roaming the halls, and the door to my room barely shut. Additionally, upon arrival, the window to my room was left open and the AC turned off so the room was stuffy and filled with mosquitoes. It was the most unpleasant stay I have experienced to date.
