Good location, but would not...

Liked: Location was convenient to nearby restaurants, bars and metro station away from the hustle and bustle of tourist hot spots like Gran Via, Puerta del Sol and Plaza Mayor. Staff was friendly when you found them (I.e. no one at the bar to serve) and Housekeeping cleaned our rooms very fast!
Disliked: Property felt tired, old and outdated. Questionable decorative decisions - mix between modern and old, which came across in poor taste / tacky. Overhaul and maintenance much needed to modernize and bring hotel to a nice standard. Bathroom skirt board and floor had mould and parts of the hotel, for instance the courtyard felt unkept and dirty. The breakfast room was too small and it was a nightmare trying to get food and navigate amongst all the people (although the food selection and variety was plentiful). Noisy plaza out front, could do with some double glazing. Definitely felt you could get nicer rooms / facilities / overall value elsewhere for the same amount of money.
