Excellent Location

Liked: Well run clean, bright and very friendly no-nonsense hotel in an excellent location (very close to El Retiro park) for the three main Madrid art museums. 5 minutes walk from both the Banco de Espana Metro station and (in the opposite direction) a lively bar and restaurant area in the streets of Barrio de las letras leading off behind Museo Thyssen. Rooms are spartan, white and clean and offer good amenities, including a single USB B plug. Bring a Euro 2 pin plug adaptor. The breakfast option with a large choice buffet is excellent value compared to local cafes. Excellent support from the multilingual front desk staff, with special thanks to David.

Disliked: The air conditioner was not working, but opening a window was enough to get the room cold.

Would definitely stay again

Liked: Brilliant stay, would definitely stay again.
Disliked: Bed was big enough for us and our 23 month old and we were offered a cot. Lovely lovely staff. Decent breakfast, lots of variety!!! Plenty of healthy options. The air con never got cool, but we didn’t make the time to ask. Drains a tiny bit smelly but, truly, we’d stay again and wasn’t a big deal.

Liked: The hotel is nice and comfortable in an excellent location near the park and Prado. It's my second time staying in one of the two Petite palace hotels by the El Retiro Park, and I find them very accommodating and comfortable, with a good breakfast and comfortable bed.Also, I really have to compliment the staff - they were extremely kind and helpful, and even though they spoke great English - were happy to help me practice my Spanish. I plan to stay here next time I'm in town.

Not recommended for families

Liked: Not recommended for families. 1. No baggage handling service. You need to carry your bags to your room. In addition, the way from outside to the room is difficult and you either take the stairs our use a very old elevator. 2. The room was not clean enough. The bed sheets had spots on them. The cleaning service is very basic and sometimes the leave parts of the room uncleaned. 3. The location is great if your main destination is the park.
