Great room at a good...

Liked: The hostel room was placed in the local university's student dorms (I believe only off-term?), so the room and the beds were more spacious and comfortable that is usual in a hostel. The kitchen was also well-equipped.
Disliked: The bed linen wasn't the best in terms of cleanliness (I'm 100% sure they had been washed before being put on the bed, but there were some probably permanent stains) and the place itself is a bit off the city centre, but not too much.

Not good

Liked: The member of staff was very friendly and helpful (although he provided incorrect information about road closures the next day which had be worried for a while). When he couldn't find the key for my allocated room he immediately moved me to another.
Disliked: - The surfaces had sticky marks on them. I went to the supermarket to get wipes to clean the place up- The bathroom smelt quite badly until I had aired the room for a while- Bed was awful - extremely thin mattress which I could feel the springs in. Think has been used as a chair for most of the year so it's collapsed on one edge. - Kitchen facilities were poor - something like 2 forks and 1 spoon in the whole kitchen and a very bent cutting knife. Cleaning materials (cloth / sponge) looked really dirty. I saw someone had previously raised this as an issue.- As a single female traveller I would have preferred to stay in the block nearer the car park and office (which was where my room was originally allocated but they couldn't find the key). I was put in a block further down and there were only men in the building as far as I could tell, which I found a little intimidating.Very disappointed compared to previous stays in youth hostels.

Liked: Self contained, easy check-in, and good price for solo travelers
Disliked: Perth isn’t worth visiting on a holiday, and it takes a bus to get to town

Decent no-frills option

Liked: It's a nice location, perhaps a distance out of the city centre but an easy drive. There are a few accommodation blocks spaced through the grounds, with outdoor spaces to walk and sit. Room was fine, it's essentially student halls. Bonus points for having a desk, chair, and ample power points.
Disliked: No towels provided in the room, might have been available from reception but it was late and I was too tired to bother wandering back.

Comfortable and affordable

Liked: Comfortable and good we could all stay together and able to cook meals rather than eating out. Stayed here before and will stay again.
Disliked: Nothing
