The Spotlight on Pendray Inn and Tea House

Victorian Elegance Just Steps from the Music

A true gem in the heart of Victoria, the Pendray Inn and Tea House is a lovingly preserved 1897 mansion with classic charm and modern comforts. Just a short stroll from Victoria’s Inner Harbour, this boutique inn offers a serene, old-world atmosphere perfect for travelers looking to unwind after a night of music and entertainment.

Why Concert-goers love it

You’re just a few minutes’ walk from downtown Victoria’s top music venues and waterfront nightlife. The free shuttle service makes getting around easy, even after a late show. While the inn’s peaceful setting ensures quiet nights, its proximity to the action means you won’t miss a beat. The 16:00 check-in and 11:00 check-out are ideal for fitting in rest before or after an event.

Who this Hotel is great for

- Couples making a romantic weekend of a favorite artist’s tour
- Solo travelers chasing a dream concert in a unique setting
- Fans wanting a quieter post-concert recovery with a touch of luxury
- Budget-conscious music lovers seeking value with character
- Small groups who appreciate cozy, shared spaces with personality

Food and Drink Options

You won’t find late-night bites here, but the hotel’s complimentary breakfast is a welcome treat after a late night. The Pendray restaurant serves up traditional afternoon tea on Mondays and Tuesdays, perfect for relaxing before an early evening show. Plus, you’re steps from downtown Victoria’s wide range of pubs and restaurants.

Nightlife Options

While the inn itself is more about calm than clubbing, you’re within walking distance of Victoria’s vibrant downtown nightlife. From cozy pubs with live acoustic sets to trendy cocktail lounges, your options are close and varied. After the show, return to the inn’s tranquil setting for a restful night.

What People Say

Guests love the historic ambiance and beautifully decorated rooms, many with harbor views. The French press coffee and local touches add a thoughtful, boutique feel. Reviewers also highlight the friendly staff and great location for exploring Victoria on foot.

Areas for Improvement

While full of charm, this isn’t the spot for those wanting modern, high-tech amenities or 24/7 room service. Rooms don’t have air conditioning, which can matter during summer months. No on-site bar means pre-show drinks may require a short walk.

The Bottom Line

For concert-goers seeking a historic, peaceful retreat within walking distance of Victoria’s music scene, the Pendray Inn and Tea House hits all the right notes.

Perfect location but stay didn't...

Liked: The property is a beautiful one and very individual. It is in a good location being only a short walk to the main city area of Victoria but very quiet.
Disliked: The staff here were not as pleasant as at all the other hotels we stayed at on our travels through Canada. We didn’t like that at 9am whilst you’re eating your breakfast, tables are being moved around you for their afternoon tea service. It felt rude and unnecessary at that time. The breakfast menu was very different and although we enjoyed it we heard a fellow diner who was vegetarian for alternatives, but it didn’t sound as this could be easily accommodated. The afternoon tea was pleasant and priced fairly.

Very disappointed in the cleanliness,...

Liked: I liked the location - cute neighbourhood and a short walk to the harbour and downtown. We also enjoyed the breakfast that was included in our stay.
Disliked: Of course we knew when booking that the building was old and historic (a reason we chose it actually!) but we also expected it to be well-kept and clean, which it was NOT. We stayed in the Amelia Jane Suite and it had three very visible mouse traps in it, which is definitely not what someone wants to see when staying in their hotel room (and an expensive one at that - $500+ for one night). There was also garbage left under the bathroom sink, the room and bathroom were covered in dust, and it was very warm and stuffy due to there being no A/C.
