I paid for a 2 bed room and received 1 bed that was dirty and full of hair. Bathroom lights did not work and there was a big hole in the door to see through. Shower was probably the worst part. Tiny and leaked - for CA$146 I could have stayed at the Super 8 for less $ and a lot bigger/cleaner.
Liked: Dirty and small.
Disliked: Everything was bad.

Great place to stay; it's cheap and they don't bother you; room was comfy; all you need.
Liked: Great place.

Never check in to this hotel. It doesn't even deserve to be called a hotel. First of all, they said they had a dryer & iron, they didn't have one in the room. Then they charged me twice for the room that I booked. The next day, their warm water didn't work, so the water in the room was freezing cold. I couldn't even take a bath. It was filthy. It was the worst place I've been to. For $65, a person still needs a decent room to sleep in.

Liked: Cleanliness, price, modest comforts.
Disliked: I had a wonderful one night stay, alone, at the Pembrooke. It was so pleasant, in fact, when I was in the city a week later, I booked a room again. They were adamant that only one other guest was allowed to stay with me. Fine, I thought, as I had a friend arrive with me who was only staying a short time.On entering the room, I noticed that the toilet seat was missing. I didn't think it was a big deal, and would report it shortly. My friend had seen a pal of his he recognized in the hall, and asked if he and another could visit for a few minutes. I agreed. With another friend dropping by (who'd checked in and announced his intention to visit at the front desk - and was allowed to visit) the talk was boisterous. I reminded everyone to keep their voice down. Then - a knock at the door, and a manager was there requesting the same. I talked and agreed with him. Then - another knock. The issue was the number of people in the room. He said only one was allowed beside myself, as id signed. I said the two were just visiting as pals, and the third, already approved to visit, was there also temporarily. He demanded my second friend leave, and the other two go back to their own room.Anyway, this cast a pall. I decided that I would not stay. IOn leaving a short time later, the management accused me of stealing the toilet seat, and seeing I wasnt carrying it, accused my friends. I found this contemptible. They threatened to withold my entire $200 cash damage deposit, but after trying to talk to them calmly, after about 20 minutes they relented, though they kept $50 of it, for the pre-(non) existing condition of the toilet. Also, I explained, I believed that room occupancy was based on fire codes and occupancy paid for. There was no mention at the desk that temporary visitors were forbidden, and if so, my second friend should not have been let in when he checked at the desk, ket alone used as a prop to berate me with.Too bad. I enjoyed my first stay.
