Brilliant stay at a fantastic...

Liked: Very well kept traditional hotel. Warm welcome, spacious room. Excellent food and super friendly staff who went above and beyond to please.
Disliked: Leaving.

Great heritage and location but...

Liked: Location in Peebles, nice views, lots of amenities The sharing plate of fish pie was very nice, although the prawns were so overcooked that they were rock hard. The staff in the restaurant were very helpful and friendly, particularly the newer staff in training. The history of the hotel explained in pictures was very interesting and backed up the long heritage of the Hydro
Disliked: The outside of the hotel is desperately in need of a coat of paint and some new windows. Vegetarian sausages and the fruit juices were dreadful at breakfast. Tea was very weak. The shower curtain rail in our bathroom was bent and the screws falling out of the wall. We reported this immediately but nothing was done. We were scared that it would fall down. The reception staff sat down behind their computers so didn’t feel friendly to approach and didn’t offer at least a smile or hello as you walked past.
